Speak German with Eden

Speak German with Eden Helloo! My name is Eden and I help expats in Germany speak flowy, fluent, confident German, so thay they can make friends and feel more integrated.

I was once a German learner and now I’m in Level C2 and also a Prüferin. If I can do it, so can you..😉

Have you been living in Germany for years…
but still avoid speaking German? 🇩🇪🫣

If you’ve ever caught yourself saying…

“Entschuldigung, mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut.”😔

ODER

“Ich verstehe viel… aber ich kann nicht sprechen.”😬

…I want you to know something.

I’ve said those exact same words.😉

Hi, I’m Eden. 👋🏼

Fifteen years ago, I moved to Germany with an A1 certificate. Speaking German felt overwhelming,
and I often felt like I’d lost my personality because
I couldn’t express myself the way I could in English.

Today, I’m an Integration Teacher, a licensed telc examiner, and I’ve reached Level C2 in German.🥳

Now, I help people just like you stop overthinking
every sentence and finally start speaking
German with confidence.

Because I truly believe this:

➡️If I can do it, so can you. 😉

I’m so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait to
be part of your German journey.

Herzlich willkommen. Let’s make your German flow. 🇩🇪✨💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

Halllooo August! 👋🏼🌻

One little ritual I’ve started over the past
few years is welcoming every new month
by setting an intention. ✨

Instead of rushing into a new month,
I like to pause and ask myself:

“What do I want this month to stand for?”

This August, my intention is to finally
finish writing my book. 📖✨

It’s a dream I’ve carried in my heart for a long time,
and I honestly can’t wait to hold it in my hands one day.

And of course, I can’t wait to share it with you… because I truly wrote it with you in mind. 💛

Another intention I have this month is to create
more opportunities for us to speak German together through live workshops.

Because after experiencing both sides—
as a German learner myself and now as a teacher—
I’ve realized something.

Sometimes, what we need most isn’t another
grammar rule or explanation.

Sometimes, we simply need a place where
we feel safe enough to speak.

A place where we can make mistakes without embarrassment.

Where we can practise without feeling judged.

And where confidence slowly grows through
courage, practice, and encouragement.

So before I end this post, here’s my wish for you this August…

💛 May you feel just 1% braver.

💛 May you worry a little less about making mistakes.

💛 May you doubt yourself a little less.

💛 May you trust yourself a little more.

And above all…

May you feel a little more like yourself every time you speak German. Because confidence doesn’t come first.

Courage does. ✨

And courage grows every time we choose to participate.

Every time we raise our hand.

Every time we open our mouths…

…even when we’re scared.

Because every conversation is a vote for the confident German speaker you’re becoming.

Now let me know…🤔

If there were a warm and supportive space where you could practise speaking German without the fear of being judged…

Would you join?

If that sounds like something you’d love,
drop this speaking emoji a 🗣️ or send me a DM,
and I’ll happily send you the details once the
workshop is ready.

Stößchen! 🥂

Have a lovely unforgettable August🌻

So excited to finally share this conversation with Claudia from ! 🥹🎙️

We chatted about what it’s really like to start over in a new country—feeling lost, trying to survive, learning the language, and slowly finding your way.

We also share some of the things that helped
us along the journey, from practical language tips
to the resources that made settling in a little easier.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why is this so hard?”
or “Am I the only one feeling like this?” …
this episode is for you. 💛

Hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording it! 😉🥂

🎙️ Episode 11 is out now! Let me know what part resonates with you the most. 😊

About a week ago, I found myself speaking German
in front of a room full of people. 😅

And something surprised me…

Even after reaching C2, I still felt those familiar butterflies. The fear. The nervousness.
The stage fright…

Just because I had to speak in German. 😅

I remember thinking:
“What if my German isn’t good enough?
What if I use the wrong article?
What if I make mistakes?
What if they don’t like me?” 🫠

Funny how quickly our minds can go there.

It reminded me that confidence isn’t
something you achieve once and keep forever. Sometimes, you simply have to choose it
over and over again.

🤔 Is it just me… or can you relate? I really hope
I’m not the only one. 😅

😉 If you’ve ever felt small, invisible, or like you
didn’t quite belong in Germany, my next podcast episode is for you. Heart this episode so I don’t
feel sooo alone 💖

I saw this picture from the many photos taken
during the Beautiful Business Festival at Villa
and it instantly made me smile. 😊

Someone captured who I really am.

This is my normal self. 😆

Before I learned German, I was loud, curious,
and loved being around people.

But somehow, while learning German, I couldn’t express myself. For a long time, I stayed on the sidelines. I stood at the back. I’d rather be invisible than risk saying something wrong.🫣

And now… here I am.

Ready to take up space.

Ready to be fully myself 💯 AGAIN ‼️

I finally feel safe enough to step out of the
background and actively join conversations
like these, to laugh with women and to normalize speaking German.

The women in these photos are incredible entrepreneurs who believe that business can—
AND SHOULD also be beautiful. 💖

Because when we create beautiful things,
we make the world a little more beautiful too.
Instead of competing or tearing each other down,
we learn to support one another. 💜

I’m so grateful to Sylva
and the Beautiful Business Team .business.de for creating space,
a gathering for women like this.🙏 War ein schöner Moment 😘 Danke fürs Foto - wenn ich mich nicht irre, ist das von dir?! 🙏💖

And I’m even happier to show you that if I can do it,
so can you. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

That’s exactly why I created Frozen to Fluent.

It’s for anyone who’s tired of feeling stuck, switching
to English, or having everyone switch to English for them. I’ve walked the path you’re walking. I know
how it feels, I know how you feel because I’ve been
there and done that. 🤓

If you’re ready to move from the sidelines to the middle of the conversation—to share your thoughts,
be asked for your opinion, and simply be yourself in German— it would be such an honor to help you.
and to one day see you in a similar picture😎

Say hello to me about 10 years ago. 💛

I had been invited to do a book reading
in front of a German audience.

I remember feeling incredibly nervous.
Part of me kept thinking,

“BUT my German isn’t good enough for this.”🫣

But another part of me wondered…

There must be something they see in me.

So after the reading, I asked the organiser
why she had invited me.

She smiled and said,

“You speak so clearly and almost without an accent. It’s such a pleasure to listen to you.”

I never forgot those words.🙂

At that moment, I realised all those hours of listening, repeating, shadowing native speakers, and practising my pronunciation had quietly opened a door I never imagined.

That one invitation led to many more.

Book readings.
Event hostings.
Teaching hundreds of students.
Meaningful friendships.

Meaningful work I never could have imagined when
I first moved to Germany. 👩🏻‍🏫

Certificates absolutely matter—I worked hard
for every single one of mine.

But looking back, they weren’t the moments
that made me realise how far I’d come.

The opportunities did.

So the next time you’re wondering,

“Is my German actually getting any better?”

Don’t only look at your certificates.

Look at your invitations.
An invitation for coffee.
An invitation to join a project.
An invitation to be part of a business talk.

An invitation to simply sit at the table and
be part of the conversation.

Those moments often tell you something
a certificate can’t.

They mean your German has reached a level
where people enjoy talking with you, trust you,
and want to include you.

And to me, that’s one of the most beautiful signs
that you’re not just learning German anymore…

you’re living it. 💛

(The second picture is a group picture of our yearly cultural week event, which I’ve been co-hosting for years now. It feels soo good and its truly an honor to be part of this community 😎)

Truth be told, there was a time I avoided
being around too many Germans.🫣😅

I would always say:

“Aber mein Deutsch ist nicht gut.”
“Ich kann nicht viel sprechen.”

Looking back, I realize those weren’t just excuses.

They were beliefs.

I wasn’t really afraid of speaking German.

I was afraid of being judged.
Afraid of making mistakes.
Afraid that I wasn’t enough.

So I stayed quiet.🤐

Fast forward to today, and I genuinely love spending time with German friends. Here I am now sitting at a garden party talking about life, travel, work, business,
being a woman, relationships and all the little things that make conversations meaningful.💜

Somewhere during the evening, it hit me:

This journey was never just about
learning a language.

It was about becoming someone who believed
she belonged in the conversation,
in a „German space“

German as a language, wasn’t the biggest challenge.

My mindset was.

The words came with practice.

The confidence came when I stopped
waiting to be perfect.

💛 Where are you on your own journey right now?

Are you still avoiding conversations,
or are you starting to enjoy them?

One thing I’ve learned is this: transformation
happens much faster when you don’t do it alone. 🤓

Thank you Sylva for creating the .business.de 🙏 and for empowering women around you to take up space and create a beautiful life 💖

If you are in Sachsen, the Villa Gückelsberg is
a 💯 must visit 😎💃🏻

Read this 2x ⤵️
Speaking German is really
about learning CONFIDENCE 😎

When I moved to Germany, I thought my biggest challenge would be memorising vocabulary and understanding grammar.

I was wrong.

The hardest part wasn’t the language.

Rather it was becoming the kind of person who
was willing to make mistakes, ask questions, start conversations, and keep speaking even when I felt embarrassed. 🙈

Looking back after 15 years, I realise I was not
just learning German.

I was learning confidence. 💥

Sooo IF I HAD had to start over from zero,
this is exactly what I’d do:

🇩🇪Speak every single day, even if it’s only one sentence.
🇩🇪Stop chasing perfect grammar and start chasing real conversations.
🇩🇪Turn everyday life into my classroom.
🇩🇪Collect experiences instead of vocabulary lists.
🇩🇪Get really curious about German culture.
🇩🇪Find people who encourage me to keep speaking.
🇩🇪Do one thing every day that feels slightly uncomfortable. 😉

Because fluency isn’t the reward for confidence.

Confidence is what creates fluency. ‼️

And maybe that’s why I love teaching German
so much.

I’m not just helping people learn another language.

➡️I’m helping them build a life where Germany
finally starts to feel like home. ❤️🇩🇪

What’s one conversation in German that still
scares you today? 🤓

You understand German…
but when it’s your turn to speak,
nothing comes out. 🥺

You freeze.
You overthink.
You feel tongue-tied.🤐

And then you start thinking…
“Maybe I just need more confidence.”
“Maybe I just need to learn more vocab.”

I used to think the same. 🤫

But after 5 years of learning and
over 8 years of teaching German,
I’ve seen this over and over again:

It’s not a confidence problem.
It’s a translation problem.

You’re trying to:
• think in English
• translate
• build the sentence
• and speak

All at the same time. 🫠

Of course your brain blocks.

The moment you stop translating…
everything changes. This is what my
German teacher told me - and though it felt
counterintuitive at first - she was 💯 right!

I started speaking much faster. 🗣️
It felt surprisingly more natural.
My German finally started to flow.

If you want help with that:

Comment or DM ✉️ “FLOW” and
I’ll send you my Flowy German Starter -
it’s a copy of all the lessons I’ve learned
from going from Level Zero to Level C2 😎

____________

Save this so you remember:
Change your method.
Change your German. 🇩🇪
