With heavy hearts, we recently said goodbye to our beloved search and rescue member, Eyk. More than just a dog, Eyk was a loyal teammate, a brave soul, and a gentle friend who gave his heart to every training and his handler.
He was kind, goofy, and deeply loved by all who knew him especially his family.
We are heartbroken, but endlessly grateful for the time we shared. Eyk, your paw prints will forever remain on our hearts and in the legacy of every life you helped change.
Rest easy, sweet boy. You’ve more than earned your peace. 🐾💙 🌈

Will my 🐕 make the cut?
🔺 Age 🔺
🔹Ideal age for a SAR K9 is typically between 1 and 3 years old, though some may start training as early as 6 months.
🔹Older dogs (7-9 years) can still perform but may require special considerations, such as adjustments in search frequency or difficulty.
🔺Training 🔺
🔹 Basic obedience: A solid foundation in obedience is a must.
🔹 Distraction tolerance: K9s must be able to focus on their search in environments with numerous distractions (noise, crowds, different surfaces, etc.).
🔺Operational Requirements🔺
🔹K9s must be capable of working in a variety of environments (e.g., wooded areas, urban settings, collapsed buildings, etc.).
🔹They should be able to withstand harsh weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
🔹The dog must be comfortable with different types of terrain (e.g., rocky, sandy, waterlogged).
These criteria ensure that the SAR K9 is effective, reliable, and safe in their role as a critical part of search and rescue operations.
