Recap to the Annual Congress 2025 in Switzerland 🇨🇭

So many of us came together for Geographies of Celebration ✨especially Böckli 🐐 und Flora 🐄
From the months of preparation that brought us closer together, to the congress itself. Some joined the workshops and excursions as participants, others jumped in as helping hands- and meanwhile the rest kept things running for everyone.

It was teamwork from dawn till dancefloor 🎊🪩

All in all, it was simply a great time! Also a huge thanks to 🧡

Weekend Exchange in 🇨🇿We kicked off our stay with a warm welcome, homemade pasta at Dominik’s, a city rally through Brno’s old town, and sunset views from the castle 🌅 The evening ended with a visit to a Czech brewery in the city center 🍻
The next day took us on a 22 km hike through the Moravian Karst with impressive rock formations ⛰️ In the evening, Eva treated us to traditional Šišky with poppy seeds, followed by drinks and live music in the city 🎶
On Sunday, we enjoyed ice cream and lunch in the city center before heading back to Kraków and Jena.

From April 3–6, we had the best time in Krakow during our Reexchange with – full of sunshine, adventures, and good vibes ☀️

First day: We arrived to perfect spring weather and watched the sunset at Lake Zakrzówek 🌅 – a former limestone quarry right next to campus. Later, we tested our geo-knowledge in a fun quiz night and shared some pizza at the geography department 🍕🧠
Second day: Time for nature! We explored Ojców National Park and hiked through the iconic Krakow Gate ⛰️. The afternoon was all about chilling in the city: ice cream, a dreamy sunset by the Vistula River, and classic Zapiekanka in the heart of Kazimierz 🍦✨
Third day: Early wake-up for a real underground adventure in Bochnia – Poland’s oldest salt mine ⛏️. Back in Krakow, we visited the famous “Lady with an Ermine” and made traditional Pierogi together from scratch 🥟
At least we shared one last breakfast with the whole crew before heading home – tired, happy, and already missing it 🧡

Part 1 of our exchange with EGEA Krakow is already over🇵🇱🇩🇪 Over three incredible days, we introduced our guests to the most beautiful spots in Jena. We climbed the Jentower, Jenzig, and Napoleonstein for breathtaking views above the clouds🥾We explored the Buchenwald Memorial, and visited Weimar’s historic old town, including the National Theater and the Herzogin Anna Amalia Library📖🏫

We had a blast during a bowling night in Jena, tested our knowledge in a Geoquiz, and exchanged delicious sweets and local treats🎳📝🍬Despite the freezing temperatures, we were lucky to enjoy plenty of sunshine☀️❄️Who says winter weekends have to be boring?

We can’t wait to visit Krakow in April!🤩

Diesen Donnerstag, den 17.10., ist es endlich soweit, unser Ersti-Meeting findet statt. 🥳
Treffpunkt ist der Ernst-Abbe-Platz um 18 Uhr. Anschließend bekommt ihr eine kleine Einführung in EGEA und danach lassen wir den Abend gemeinsam im Alster ausklingen. 😁

A few weeks ago, seven of our EGEA Jena members attended the Annual Congress 2024 in Koscielisko, Poland🇵🇱We spent 6 days full of laughter and fun (and care for each other🤗) in front of the breathtaking scenery of the Tatra Mountains🏔️. Thank you .ac2024 for the great organization and programme!🧡💜
Of course, we are also looking forward to the Annual Congress 2025, which will take place in Melchtal, Switzerland🇨🇭EGEA Halle, EGEA Zurich and EGEA Jena will organize the event together. We can’t wait to see you there!🥰
