Getting ready to take on a physics challenge! 🔬🌍

Our ambassador Lal Dev Kumar Sah from Nepal organized a mock test at their school, giving students the opportunity to work through sample problems inspired by the previous Qualification, Prefinal, and Final Rounds of the International Physics Competition.

It was a great opportunity to experience the format, challenge their problem-solving skills, and prepare for the different stages of the competition.

Led by our IPhyC ambassador Najwa Adel Abdulkarim, the IPhyC Libya Representative Team, in collaboration with Matrix Robotics, organized a workshop titled “From Physics to Robotics: A Journey Toward Innovation,” bringing together 50 participants interested in physics, engineering, robotics, and technology.

The workshop explored the connection between fundamental physics principles and robotic systems, showing how concepts from physics can be applied to the design and development of robots.

By connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world technology, the session gave participants an opportunity to explore how physics can serve as a foundation for innovation in fields such as robotics and engineering.

We’re happy to see our representatives creating opportunities for students and technology enthusiasts to discover the practical applications of physics beyond the classroom!

Preparation Tips for IPhyC 2026

Preparing for the International Physics Competition is about building critical thinking, creativity, and confidence.

Start by understanding the format of each round. The Qualification Round includes diverse problem types, the Semi-Final Round tests analytical reading and deep reasoning, and the Final Round challenges your quick thinking and time management.

Focus on essential concepts and strengthen your foundation by reviewing key topics and principles relevant to physics.

Practice with past IPhyC problems, learn from your mistakes, and develop your analytical thinking. Improve your skills in reading complex texts; especially important for the Semi-Final Round.

Make use of all available resources and connect with others: study groups, physics clubs, or IPhyC Representatives. Most importantly, enjoy the process and treat each problem as a new step in your academic journey.

Tuesday, 8 December 2026 – Registration Deadline (Semi-Final Round)
Friday, 11 December 2026 – Release of Problems (Semi-Final Round)
Tuesday, 15 December 2026 – Submission Deadline (Semi-Final Round)
Monday, 28 December 2026 – Announcement of Results (Semi-Final Round)

Final Round:
Tuesday, 12 January 2027 – Day of the Final Round Exam (Final Round)
Monday, 18 January 2027 – Announcement of Results (Final Round)

IPhyC 2026: Process & Rounds Explained
The International Physics Competition has three exciting stages designed to challenge and inspire students worldwide.

1. Qualification Round:
Solve five diverse problems covering different topics and difficulty levels. Earn up to 25 points, and qualify by scoring at least 15, 17, or 20 points depending on your age group. Deadline: Sunday, 1 November 2026, 23:59 UTC+0. Digital submissions receive a special note on the certificate.

2. Semi-Final Round:
Qualified students tackle six advanced problems, including research-based tasks. You'll receive the problems on Friday, 11 December 2026 and have four days to submit your solutions. A registration fee applies and financial aid is available.

3. Final Round:
Top performers enter the Final Round; an online, multiple-choice exam with 30 questions. It can be supervised at school or self-recorded at home. Finalists with the highest scores receive awards and prizes.
