MISOGI & AIKI

“Aiki is the way of the Kami and was born of the will of the Kami.

Rise early in the morning to greet the sun. Inhale the breath of heaven and let the cosmos inside. Next breath up the rich vibrance of the earth. Blend these breaths with your own breath and become the breath of life itself. Your mind and body will be gladdened, heartache and disappointment will dissipate and you will be filled with gratitude.

The movements of Aikido which unite human being with great nature are all given by Sarutahiko-no-O-Kami. Aikido is Misogi..a purification of ourselves…the way of the universe.”

After I finished reciting the Norito (prayer) he chanted, "Su-U-Ah-Oh-Uh-Eh-Ih" then took the wooden sword and offered several Aikido moves to OhKami. At that time he said, "these are the basics of Aikido. Moves which unite the being with the great nature, all of them given by Sarutahiko-no-O-Kami." He continued, "Aikido is misogi. Misogi of ourselves. Aikido is the way of misogi itself, the way to become Sarutahiko-no-O-Kami and stand on the Ame- no-Ukihashi (the bridge between heaven and earth).”

La pregunta que te ahorra años (new post)

“Si preguntas sentirás vergüenza un minuto, si no lo haces sentirás vergüenza toda la vida”. Este proverbio japonés apunta al corazón del aprendizaje. Preguntar exige coraje, porque expone una falta, una duda, una grieta en lo que creemos saber. Pero justamente ahí empieza el crecimiento real: en el momento en que alguien deja de proteger su imagen y decide buscar claridad.

En el dōjō, en el trabajo y en la vida ocurre lo mismo. Muchas personas prefieren callar para no incomodarse, y ese silencio termina siendo mucho más caro que la incomodidad inicial. Una pregunta a tiempo corrige un error, evita años de confusión y abre una puerta que el orgullo mantiene cerrada. La vergüenza breve pasa; la ignorancia cuidada demasiado tiempo se endurece.

Preguntar bien también es una forma de disciplina. Significa aceptar que el camino todavía tiene zonas oscuras y que aprender requiere humildad operativa, atención y sinceridad. Quien pregunta con honestidad avanza. Quien finge saber, se estanca detrás de su propia máscara.

No te enseño a mover los pies

Durante una clase, un estudiante se acercó a Morihei Ueshiba para pedirle que repitiera el juego de pies de una técnica. Quería observar mejor el desplazamiento, los ángulos, los detalles del movimiento.

Pero O-Sensei no repitió la técnica. Lo miró con seriedad y le respondió con firmeza:
“No te enseño a mover los pies… ¡te estoy enseñando a mover la mente!”
El mensaje era claro: el verdadero aprendizaje en Aikido no se encuentra solo en la forma externa. El gesto técnico es solo la superficie. Lo que importa es el estado interior desde el cual se mueve el cuerpo.

Ueshiba no entrenaba para producir copias exactas de sus movimientos, sino para despertar en sus alumnos una comprensión más profunda: sensibilidad, intuición, claridad. Les enseñaba a ver más allá del paso y el gesto, y a entender la intención, el ritmo, la presencia.
En Aikido, la técnica es solo el vehículo. La mente es el motor.
