We welcome expressions of interest (EOI) from higher education institutions and networks to contribute to our transatlantic stories section of the publication. Each transatlantic story (800 words in a graphic one-page format) will be showcased in the report. EOIs should portray an example of transatlantic cooperation in the field of higher education, fitting in the following areas:

A: Subnational Collaboration
B: Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and Virtual Exchange
C: Workforce Development and Talent Trajectories.

PhDs and recent Postdocs: the next deadline for DAAD’s Research Grants in Germany program is fast approaching (October 30th). This grant is open to all fields and supports stays in Germany from between 2 and 12 months (Ts and Cs apply!). Join DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service to learn details on their scholarship and grant programs in support of student study, research and internships in Germany in 2027-28.

The info session will be held virtually on September 30th and will start 12:30 pm ET / 9:30 am PT.

DAAD has funding programs to support students at all stages (Bachelor, Master’s and PhD) in all fields of study.

This session will include information on DAAD’s popular RISE internship opportunities for students from the Natural Sciences or Engineering, our Study Scholarships for students from North American universities who do their Master’s studies at a German university and many more.

Our Research Ambassadors are scholars and scientists across the U.S. and Canada who bring first-hand experience conducting research in Germany to their campuses and professional communities.
Throughout the academic year, they help spread the word about research opportunities in Germany, share information about funding, organize events, and advise students and fellow researchers interested in taking their work to Germany.
We’re excited to have our newest Ambassadors join the DAAD network and look forward to seeing the connections they build!

The central theme of the recent annual meeting of the German Research Foundation (DFG) was protecting and strengthening the freedom and independence of research in the face of increasing hostility and attacks, including from in Germany.
