Sailing Training 2018

14/06/2018

The Sailing Club will be holding its annual open day on Saturday 16th June at Hatenboer from 10am. This will be an opportunity for non-members to try out the boats and the facilities. We hope to see a large turn-out from members and potential aspirant sailors. Please get in touch with someone from the Committee if you can help out in any way; experienced members are crucial for the continuity of our club.

Hi Sailors,
I just received the info from Adrian Kenn that there is an RYA L1 Start Sailing course on 23-24 June at the Möhnesee. If any members are interested they can contact him and he will make best endeavors to find them a place.

On details how to register please see my mail on this subject from 26 April. As usual please pass this info on if you know of anybody who might be interested in joining the Club.

Fair winds,

Manfred

Hi sailors and a special welcome to newcomers to the Club,

The possibility has again arisen in 2016 for NATO Tri-Border Sailing Club (NTSC) members to take advantage of formal Royal Yachting Association (RYA) dinghy, keelboat, multihull, power boat and possibly windsurfing courses with the RYA registered British Möhnesee Sail Training Centre near Soest in Nordrhein-Westfalen in Germany. The aim is primarily to offer new sailors an internationally recognized qualification in dinghy and/or keelboat sailing in order that we may expand our Club membership as well as to offer existing members the opportunity to develop their sailing skills. Training and accommodation would be allocated subject to availability and charges (course fees, food and accommodation) will apply where appropriate.

Prerequisite would be your NTSC membership fee paid for the 2016 season. If you join the Club late in the season, we can discuss reduced rates for the membership fee.

The following courses are being delivered in 2016:

Dinghy

RYA Level 1

RYA Level 2

RYA Seamanship

RYA Youth Stage 1

RYA Youth Stage 2

RYA Youth Stage 3

RYA Youth Stage 4

RYA Dinghy Instructor’s Course (Requires pre-entry assessment and a realistic view to future instruction)

Keelboat

RYA Level 2 (Conversion from Dinghy Level 2 or on assessment)

Multihull

RYA Level 2 (Conversion from Dinghy Level 2)

Powerboat

RYA Level 2

RYA Safety Boat (for instructors)

Possible Others

RYA Dinghy Level 3

RYA Dinghy Sailing with Spinnakers (Asymmetric)

RYA Dinghy Start Racing

RYA Dinghy Performance Sailing

RYA Windsurfing Courses

The Centre is set up to serve the British Forces community in Germany. Therefore, to avoid disappointment, members are not to approach the Centre directly. If you are interested in developing your skills or know of anyone in the NATO community who is interested in learning to sail, please contact Adrian Kenn ([email protected] Tel: +352 3063 7174 or (preferably) [email protected] Tel: +49 177 66 55 006) to discuss your options and availability. Adrian will coordinate your requirements with the Centre.

If this is of interest to you or one of your family members please contact Adrian to find out what your options are and if and when a particular course is available. If you know of anybody working in your environment, who might be interested in this opportunity, please spread the info. We will also try to get this on the intranet in GK and in Brunssum.

Fair winds,

Manfred
