Heqaib

The object plate refers to the FIP as the ‘Period of Regions ‘. The First Intermediate Period came into being after WWI, so a modern construct that masks the continuation and flourishing of communities after the Old Kingdom.

So we know through the names of dependents inscribed in the reliefs that Nyankhnesut lived under three Pharaohs, from atleast the second last ruler in Dyn. V (King Djedjare Isesi) to the first ruler of Dyn. VI (King Teti).

Tombs were traditionally built towards the end of one’s life, when the owner had reached his/her highest status in the administration and/or court life. If the person died unexpectedly, it would have been finished by his eldest son, or heir apparent. You also see this phenomenon with the Sun Kings in Dyn. V!

So after the tomb was looted in 1917, it became ‘lost’ to Egyptologists, although we obviously had evidence of its actual existence. It was rediscovered in the early 2000’s by modern looters. So now we had the outline of the tombs design, but obviously still missing many reliefs that were previously in situ.
