Stage anxiety is very often connected to how prepared you feel.
When the voice is not stable and reliable, the body reacts.
Confidence doesn’t come from forcing yourself to relax,
it comes from knowing what you’re doing.

You can hear it clearly in your head.
You know how the phrase should sound, how it should feel, how it should move.
But the voice doesn’t follow yet.
And that gap between intention and ability can be very frustrating.
But that gap is also where learning happens.
With time and the right work, the voice starts to catch up with what you already hear.
Don't let frustration stop you, just keep practicing and it will slowely go away!

So, next time you want to drink alcohol thinking it won't affect your singing, or will make it better, think again...

Did you know about this? Let me know in the comments.

It’s possible to sing everything “correctly” and still feel like something is missing. Because music is not just about getting the notes right. It’s about what you’re doing with them, where the phrase is going, what it means, how it feels.

Technique is important, but it’s not the final goal.
It’s there to support expression.

👉 People don’t connect to perfect singing.
They connect to something that feels real and alive.

Singing in front of people can feel uncomfortable. Not because you’re doing something wrong, but because it’s something personal.

Your voice is not separate from you. And when you sing, you’re sharing that with others. That’s why it can feel exposing.

With time, it becomes easie, not because it matters less, but because you begin to see it as something that isn’t threatening.

The more you learn about yourself and your voice, the more natural it starts to feel.

For a long time, I was focused on the wrong thing.

Not the music. Not the phrase. But how I might sound, how I might be judged.

And that kind of focus changes everything. It changes your body, your breath, your decisions, even the way the voice responds.

The shift didn’t come from “trying to be more confident”. It came from changing where the attention goes.

👉 Who are you actually singing for when you sing?

One of the most confusing things about singing is that you can’t really hear yourself objectively.

What you experience while you’re singing is not the same as what others hear.
So it’s completely normal to feel like something is working, and then hear a recording and be surprised.

That gap can be frustrating, but it’s also just part of how the voice works.

👉 And that’s exactly why an outside ear is so important.
Not because you’re doing something wrong, but because you simply can’t hear everything from the inside.

Some days the voice just doesn’t respond the way you expect.

What felt easy before suddenly feels unstable, harder to control, less reliable.
And it’s very easy in those moments to think that something is wrong or that you’ve lost progress.

But the voice doesn’t function the same way every day.
It responds to your body, your energy, your focus - things that are constantly changing.

A difficult day doesn’t erase what you’ve built.
It’s just part of working with something that is alive.

Most mistakes feel much bigger to you than they actually are.

In the moment, it can feel like everything stopped, like it was obvious, like everyone noticed.

But the audience doesn’t know what you planned.
They don’t have your “ideal version” in their head.
They only experience what you give them in real time.
And very often, what makes a mistake noticeable is not the mistake itself,
but the moment you react to it.

👉 Next time, just stay in the music and continue.
It changes more than you think.

The voice reflects more than technique.

Physical state, mental focus, and underlying beliefs all influence how the voice responds. When these are overlooked, it’s easy to assume that every difficulty needs a technical solution.

In many cases, the source is not only mechanical — but internal.

Understanding this changes how we approach training.
