In 2022, our chair will continue exciting research on extending model evolution analyses by semantic differencing funded by the DFG. Syntactically similar models may have very different meaning. In the consecutive research we aim at providing holistic differencing operators that combine syntactic and semantic differencing, as well as to reason about model evolution in context which is an important aspect of systems modeling. Configurable semantics and, respectively, configurable semantic differencing operators are another reasearch target of our ongoing project!

Building ML-based software is inherently different from classical software. To automate the machine learning development lifecycle, a recent paper of A Atouani, J. Kirchhof, E.Kusmenko and B. Rumpe of our chair presents an artifact model making the consituents of machine learning-based software and their relationships explicit and shows that a build system which is aware of the different artifact types can foster odularization and reuse of machine learning-based software.

Wir gratulieren Herrn Stefan Kühnel ganz herzlich zur Promotion! Seine Arbeit stellt eine agile Methode zur simulativen Qualitätssicherung von aktiven Sicherheitssystemen vor und wurde gestern in einem hochinteressanten Vortrag verteidigt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, den komplexen Entwicklungsprozess von Aktiven Sicherheitssystemen im Rahmen der Consumer Tests durch einen simulativen Ansatz zur Verbesserung der Softwarequalität zu unterstützen. Weiterhin soll durch die Verhaltensanalyse von Algorithmen die Ressourcenallokation während der Entwicklung und der notwendigen realen Tests verbessert und damit effektiver gestaltet werden.

A Conceptual Model for Digital Shadows in Industry and Its Application 08/12/2021

Smart manufacturing demands to process data in domain-specific real-time. Engineering models created for constructing, commissioning, planning, or simulating manufacturing systems can facilitate aggregating and abstracting the wealth of manufacturing data to faster processable data structures for more timely decision making. Current research lacks conceptual foundations for how data and engineering models can be exploited in an integrated way to achieve this. Our paper "A Conceptual Model for Digital Shadows in Industry and Its Application" presents a conceptual model created by experts from different smart manufacturing domains and Informatics. This conceptual model was established through interdisciplinary research in the German excellence cluster “Internet of Production” and evaluated in various real-world manufacturing scenarios.

Model-driven engineering enables generating code from models which has various benefits for time and cost efficiency of the development. We propose a set of activities for retrofitting the model-based approach into already existing enterprise information systems and apply the methodology to a real-world application to demonstrate its practical applicability.
Using our methodology developers can make structured, informed decisions when retrofitting a model-based approach into enterprise information systems.

Digitalisierung der Gesetzgebung!
Unter diesem Stichwort haben wir zusammen mit dem Bayerischen Landesamt für Steuern und MGM Technologies untersucht, wie Gesetze mit Hilfe domänen-spezifischer Sprachen formuliert werden können, sodass diese keinen Raum für fehlerhafte Interpretaion und Anwendung geben. Objektiv richtige Gesetzesanwendung kann somit in direkt in Software-Anwendungen übersetzt werden. Anhand der Steuergesetzgebung diskutiert die Studie mehrere Lösungsvarianten und zeigt beispielhaft auf, wie formale Sprachen für die Abbildung gesetzlicher Steuerberechnungen und zur Modellierung von Fristen aussehen können.
Veröffentlicht wurde die Studie als Bericht Nr. 19 "Digitalisierung der Gesetzgebung zur Steigerung der digitalen Souveränität des Staates" (06/2021).
