DAAD Project Bridge

📣 Today, we had the opportunity to present and discuss how BRIDGE is taking responsibility in the SDG Partnership Programme at the DAAD symposium in. Cape Town, South Africa. Prof. Nacken from and Prof. Ahadzie from led the presentation and insights into our collaboration, followed by an exciting panel discussion.

👥 The overall panel today featured not only project leads, but also key voices from business, politics, and civil society—all of whom play an active role in shaping impactful partnerships. From climate resilience to local innovation, the session offered a rich dialogue on how universities and communities can co-create solutions that matter.

💪 Under the title Global Responsibility – Local Impact: Higher Education Partnerships for the SDGs, the DAAD is hosting a multi-day symposium in Cape Town, South Africa from 13-16/10/2025, to mark its 100th anniversary within the framework of the SDG Partnership Programme. Our BRIDGE project has the special honour of being presented and discussed in detail there. We will be represented by Prof. Heribert Nacken (RWTH Aachen University) and Prof. Divine K. Ahadzie (KNUST) from the project delegation!

BRIDGE was presented as a role model project for great collaboration between Germany and Ghana contributing to achieving the SDGs at the annual conference of German UNESCO Chairs in Wiesbaden, Germany on 01/10/2025, as the coordinator, here represented by F. Balmes, holds the UNESCO Chair in Hydrological Change and Water Resources Management.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: DAAD Project Leader Conference
During the conference, participants had the opportunity to explore Tanzanian culture through visits to the national and village museums. 🇹🇿 These visits showcased the diverse architecture of various ethnic groups in Tanzania, and included performances of local dances. The program also featured a tour of the local fish market. 🐟

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, July 23, 2024: DAAD Project Leader Conference
Each of the roundabout forty German-African projects on "Educating tomorrow's leaders to pioneer sustainable development - the role of academia" have three minutes for a pitch-presentation of their topics and project aims. 🌍 BRIDGE is represented by Victor Gedzi (KNUST) and Bruno Arich-Gerz (RWTH). Discussions are fruitful and promise to yield a teaming up with some of the other 39 projects. 💪
