Bellementary: Investing in the Future of Education. Join us in shaping the future Who Are We? How Does It Work? Want to Learn More?

At Bellementary we believe in nurturing the whole child through a dynamic, bilingual Czech-English primary education that blends the best of the Czech and British curricula. We are a group of parents who have chosen a modern approach to educating our children – fully bilingual (Czech-English), with a strong focus on social communication, individual strengths and weaknesses, plenty of physical acti

As you might know, our friends from Jingle Bells English Language Preschool Prague started a wonderful initiative bringing ponies to our playground so the children can ride and pet them.

During their first visit, all children loved the experience, but Bellementary kids were a bit disappointed that the ponies were too small for them and they could only pet (wellbeing of the pony always comes first). This time we had a little surprise waiting for them: tiny and gentle Violeta came together with Silvik, who was big and strong enough for our older students to enjoy riding as well. Everyone left happy, thank you, Silvik!

And the best part is that the ponies are coming again on May 13! As always, it’s open not only to Jingle Bells children, but also to our guests, free of charge. So if you have a young child and would like to introduce them to ponies in a calm and caring environment, come and join us!

How is Bellementary connected to the Czech education system?

This is one of the most common questions we get from parents:
“Your format is great… but how does it actually work within the Czech system? And can my child continue to secondary school after Bellementary?”

Let’s break it down.

Bellementary operates as a first stage primary school (Grades 1–5) within the Czech education framework.

At the same time, our students are officially registered as home schoolers with
Základní škola Hartmanice.

What does this mean in practice?

Every six months, our students receive an official Vysvědčení (school report) just like any child in the Czech system.

Our curriculum is a thoughtful blend of:
- core subjects from the Czech national program
- international subjects and approaches

Learning happens in two languages:
some subjects are taught in Czech, others in English.

We also offer a Grade 0 (preparatory year) as a gentle transition that helps children build confidence, language skills, and readiness before starting primary school.

Who is this format the best fit for?

Bellementary is especially valuable for:

- international families who want their children to integrate into Czech life while also becoming fluent in English
- Czech families who want their child not just to learn English as a subject, but to naturally live the language in a bilingual environment
- gifted or special learners who benefit from an individual approach, smaller class sizes, and the ability to progress at their own pace

So what’s the outcome?

Our students grow up:
- academically aligned with the Czech system
- fluent and confident in both Czech and English
- adaptable to different educational paths

After Bellementary, families have full flexibility. Children can continue with Czech gymnázium (after passing tests of course), a Czech primary school (second stage, Grades 6–9) or an international school.

Bellementary is not an alternative outside the system but a bridge which combines structure, flexibility, and a truly international learning experience.

Today, for our PE lesson, we invited our friends from Saber Academy for one of the most unusual sports classes ever: lightsaber fencing!

Did you know this is not only exciting, but also incredibly beneficial?

From a neuropsychology perspective, activities that involve both controlling an object and interacting with a partner are among the most effective ways to support a child’s brain development.

They help improve coordination, focus, reaction speed, and decision-making skills.

Add a strong playful element (and children absolutely love Star Wars!), and you get the perfect combination: even kids who are usually less interested in sports become fully engaged, truly enjoy the process, get the movement their bodies need, and build new neural connections along the way.

The children had so much fun: learning new movements and footwork, hitting balls with their sabers, dueling, and even defending their castle. And all of this was happening while they were actively moving, focusing, and challenging themselves in new ways :))

This is what learning through movement, play, and joy looks like at Bellementary.

Our friends at Jingle Bells English Language Preschool Prague have arranged a wonderful series of free garden playdates for parents with toddlers. We know that most of our followers are parents of school-aged children, but if your child has a younger sibling and sometimes you feel a bit lost or lonely, these playdates are an amazing opportunity to connect with other parents in a safe and welcoming environment.

We had an amazing playdate today!

Feeling a bit lonely as a toddler mom? Looking to connect with other parents in a safe and welcoming space? Our garden playdates are the perfect place for you!

Your little ones can play freely with other toddlers without the worry of being bumped by older children, while you relax, chat, and enjoy the moment.

Join us every weekday from 10:30 to 11:30 – completely free of charge!

Feel free to contact us to reserve your spot!

Today we had an amazing trip to the Adventure Playground.
It’s always fascinating to watch that spark appear, when children go from “What can we do here?” to actively creating, exploring, and bringing their ideas to life!

Last Friday, we visited the Botanical Garden in Troja for a workshop called “Basics of Microscopy”.

Under the microscope, familiar plants turned into something much more complex and detailed, and the children were genuinely engaged in exploring what they saw.

For most of the children, it was their first experience working with real scientific microscopes and it was purely amazing!

This coming Friday, we will continue exploring living nature from a different perspective with a visit to the Prague zoo, where we will take part in a program on “Animal Behavior in Spring”.

We still have a couple spots available, so feel free to reach out if you would like to join!

Exploring the Human Body

Learning about the human body is incredibly important!

That’s why our Upper Bells approached this topic in a truly hands-on way. First, we visited the Body Worlds exhibition, where under the guidance of a medical professional the children could see how the human body really works.

After that, we reinforced what we had learned during our Science lesson on the following week, discussing how different systems of the body function and why they are so important.

It was a fascinating experience that helped bring science to life!

Spring Camp week spoiled us with amazing weather, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity and spent as much time outdoors as possible!
And our indoor time was filled with our favorite board games!

We also visited the new Prague museum and had an absolutely wonderful time!

During the holidays, we met some wonderful new friends and truly hope to see them again!
Our children also had time to rest and recharge, so they can start the new school week feeling refreshed and full of energy.
