COYS - Konference mladých slavistů

We are very pleased to present our new proceedings volume, "Hegemonie a marginalita ve slovanském areálu", which contains scholarly articles presented at the Conference of Young Slavists in 2023 and 2024. Altogether, the volume features 13 studies written in Czech, English, Slovak, Russian, Polish, Serbian, Croatian, and Slovenian. The contributions are divided into two main sections according to the conference years and, within these sections, further organized by thematic focus (history and culture, linguistics, and literature).

Hegemony and marginality are integral parts of all societies as well as all academic disciplines. Through their multidisciplinary approaches, the contributions underscore this fact and highlight the many manifestations of both dynamics. Among other topics, the authors uncover the hegemony of linear text and the marginality of gender-related themes within the literary canons of Slavic countries. They also demonstrate struggles for hegemony reflected in changes of toponyms in multinational territories. At the same time, the volume addresses topics that are often marginalized across various disciplines.

The book was published in 2026 by Pavel Mervart Publishing House.

The conference is organized in cooperation with the Slovanský ústav AV ČR, v. v. i. and held under the auspices of the Czech Society for Slavonic, Balkan and Byzantine Studies (ČSSBBS) and the Boris Nemtsov Academic Center.

We invite you to the 20th Annual Conference of Young Slavists! From December 3 to 5, 2026, the 20th anniversary of the International Conference of Young Slavists will take place at the main building of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. For twenty years, our conference has brought together students and early-career researchers from across Europe, and interest in the conference has been steadily growing year by year.

This jubilee edition will not have a strict thematic focus; therefore, we welcome contributions addressing topics related to the Slavic region. Papers from the fields of historiography, linguistics, literary studies, and cultural studies are especially encouraged.

Zveme Vás na 20. ročník Konference mladých slavistů!
Ve dnech 3. až 5. prosince 2026 se bude konat na hlavní budově FFUK v Praze 20. výročí mezinárodní Konference mladých slavistů. Naše konference již dvacet let spojuje studenty a mladé badatele z celé Evropy, přičemž zájem o naši konferenci rok od roku roste.

Tento jubilejní ročník nebude mít striktní tematické vymezení; vítáme proto příspěvky zaměřené na témata související se slovanským areálem. Vítány jsou příspěvky z oblasti historiografie, lingvistiky, literární vědy a kulturních studií.

On Saturday, 6th December 2025, we wrapped up this year’s Conference of Young Slavists with nine speakers who delivered the final round of presentations 💬

After a full day of talks and discussions, we officially concluded this year’s edition of the conference ☺️🌟

On Friday, 5th December 2025, we continued the Conference of Young Slavists with eleven presenters joining us both in person and online 💬

Throughout the day, we enjoyed a diverse set of talks and discussions across multiple fields 🤗📚

On Thursday, 4th December 2025, we kicked off this year’s Conference of Young Slavists at the Filozofická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy 🌟📚

Dear colleagues,
from 4 to 6 December 2025, the 19th Annual Conference of Young Slavists will be held at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (room P104). Each year, both the academic quality and the number of participants continue to grow, and we are delighted that once again we can welcome colleagues from across Europe to our faculty. This year’s programme features a total of 35 presentations from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Italy, Germany, Croatia, and several other European countries.

The 19th annual Conference of Young Slavists has been announced! Our conference has already attracted hundreds of Czech, Slovak, and international researchers, with the international dimension of the conference significantly strengthening in recent years. Therefore, sign up for the next annual conference, which will take place from December 4-6 at the main building of Faculty of Arts (Charles University), 2025.
