🌞 The PV Technology Laboratory of Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου | University Of Cyprus and PHAETHON CoE invite applications for one (1) full-time Special Scientist (Research) at post-doctoral level, contributing to research programmes focused on the advanced characterisation, performance, and ageing of photovoltaic (PV) devices and emerging PV technologies.
🔬 Research Focus
The successful candidate will contribute to research addressing key challenges facing next-generation PV technologies, including:
🔸 Advanced characterisation of PV devices & technologies
🔸 Indoor and outdoor performance & ageing testing
🔸 Metastability, long-term stability & field reliability
🔸 Analysis of laboratory & field measurement data
🔸 Development of standardised measurement protocols for emerging PV technologies
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
🔸 Design, execute, and optimise experiments for PV device characterisation & ageing
🔸 Analyse large datasets from laboratory & field measurements using statistical and other analytical methods
🔸 Develop measurement protocols for next-generation PV technologies
🔸 Prepare peer-reviewed publications, technical reports & conference presentations
🔸 Engage with industry & academic partners to translate research findings into practical applications
🔸 Contribute to research project implementation and management, including monitoring milestones & deliverables
🔸 Support the supervision and mentoring of graduate students & research assistants
🎓 Required Qualifications
🔸 PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
🔸 Proven research experience in photovoltaics or solar energy systems
🔸 Fluency in written & spoken English (equivalent to C1 level)
➕ Additional Skills & Qualifications
🔸 Experience with PV characterisation equipment & accelerated ageing testing
🔸 Programming skills, particularly in Python, and/or experience with semiconductor physics simulation tools
🔸 Previous participation in relevant national or European research-funded projects
🔸 Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment
