💫 “Till the Tides Have Come and Gone”, Andrea Christodoulides’ exciting solo show opens next Friday, 7 March from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
🌟 Her work, “Sand Dunes”, an acrylic painting on canvas, is one of the awesome artworks to be featured by this hugely talented young artist.
⚡️Andrea Christodoulides (b. 1994, Nicosia, Cyprus) holds a BA in Painting from Edinburgh College of Art (2017) and an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2019). Her work has appeared in a number of group shows in the UK, including “ING Discerning Eye” exhibition (Mall Galleries, London, 2023), “Spring again, Spring ahead”, (No20 Arts, London, 2023) and “Taster” (Coups Contemporary, London, 2023). She also had a solo presentation of her work, “Run!”, in Nicosia, Cyprus curated by Evagoras Vanezis (Garaz, 2021).
The show, curated by Andreas Stylianou, draws inspiration from a recent deeply personal experience of the artist. The collection of works delves into themes of memory, loss, and the fleeting nature of human existence. Through her evocative works, Christodoulides invites viewers to reflect on the passage of time and the emotional resonance of the past.
Christodoulides explores the ways in which we navigate the intersections between dreams and reality, between what we know and what we need to unlearn. Through painting as an expanded medium, which includes collage, textiles, drawings, tufting and embroideries, Christodoulides plays with the different possibilities of how painting materialises and grows in space, often taking sculptural qualities. Christodoulides invites the viewers into a contemplative space, encouraging slow engagement with the pieces—like sitting unhurriedly by the shore, watching the waves, or feeling the sea water on one’s skin.
