This year’s Modern Governance Masterclasses in Curaçao and Sint Maarten brought together leaders from across the region, including an amazing turnout from our sister island, Bonaire. Together, they explored one central truth: governance is evolving.
During the past 2 weeks, across every session, participants didn’t just absorb knowledge; they challenged global frameworks to fully grasp how they can be meaningfully adapted to our Caribbean reality. In doing so, they brought forward ideas and perspectives deeply rooted in our own strengths, culture, and context.

Looking Back on Our Visit to SER Sint Maarten
During our recent trip to Sint Maarten for the Digital Business Strategy & Leadership (DBSL) program, we had the opportunity to visit the Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER)—an independent advisory body that plays a critical role in shaping the island’s socio-economic direction.
SER SXM brings together voices from government, labor, and the private sector to offer balanced, forward-thinking advice on economic development, labor market strategy, and sustainable growth. Their commitment to inclusive dialogue and long-term policy planning is essential as Sint Maarten continues to build resilience in the face of ongoing global and climate-related challenges.
We’re thankful for the meaningful conversation and warm hospitality. It’s inspiring to see an institution so deeply rooted in public value, consensus-building, and regional progress.
