What if relationships are the next level of recovery?
Getting sober is a profound beginning. We begin learning how to release old patterns, work the Steps, find support, reconnect with ourselves, and build new ways of being.
But then we enter into relationship...
And suddenly, all those places we've been healing can get turned up.
Our fears of abandonment.
Our need to control.
Our people pleasing.
Our desire to be understood.
Our old protective patterns.
As Nina Pick says in this week's Bonus Podcast conversation, relationship can be the "next level of recovery." It's where we have the opportunity to bring all of the healing we've been practicing into our most intimate connections.
Nina and I talk about attachment, addiction, codependency, the nervous system, recovery, and what it means to create healthier and more secure relationships with ourselves and the people we love.
And I'm especially excited because Nina's new book, Sober Secure: An Attachment-Based Guide to Dating, S*x, and Love in Recovery, is out TODAY, August 11! 🧡
