I don’t usually write long or vulnerable posts here. But I wanted to share this, on the off chance it resonates with someone.
I’ve always been self-conscious about my body, and scrutinizing this video made me hesitate to share it. After years—nearly two decades of practicing yoga—I wish I could say I was beyond that. In fact, my feelings about my body almost kept me from trying acroyoga at all. But this video is also a reminder of the community I’ve been a part of for the past year, and the progress I’ve made. And I’m choosing to celebrate that.
I used to think ego was the voice in our heads that says we need to be better than everyone else, that says we need to have more, do more, be more. But lately I’ve realized it’s also the voice that tells us we’re less than, not worthy, never good enough. And I see that show up so clearly in how we relate to our bodies—and in how it can hold us back from fully showing up.
My goal is to share the practice with people at all stages of life, from all backgrounds, and for everyone to feel safe and valued just as they are. I know now that feeling comfortable with myself as I am is the first step.
It is my hope, wish, and prayer that we all feel comfortable enough in our bodies to do what we love and to share it with others.
May all beings everywhere be happy and free. That includes you, and that includes me. 🙏🏻
