The Confident Speaking Club
Here are 5 things I wish I knew before I started studying a second language.
1. Itās not just about studying: Learning a language is also about feeling, making mistakes, and connecting with what you hear. Live the culture too!
2. Perfection doesnāt exist: No one speaks perfectly, not even native speakers. Your goal is to communicate, not to sound like a grammar book.
3. Feeling embarrassed is part of the process: Every uncomfortable moment is a step toward confidence.
4. Progress isnāt always visible⦠until one day it is: Donāt give up when you feel stuck. Youāre growing in silence.
5. You donāt need daily motivation, you need commitment: There will be days you donāt feel like it, but consistency builds confidence.
Learning a second language changed my life, and I want you to feel that freedom too.
Whatās something you wish youād known before starting your language journey?

⨠From Costa Rica to the world, hereās a little bit of my story.
Iām Irene, a language coach, language enthusiast, and lifelong learner.
Iāve learned that speaking a language fluently is just like swimming or hiking: it takes patience, consistency, and courage to face the challenges along the way.
Every step Iāve taken, every class Iāve taught, and every student Iāve worked with has shaped the person I am today. š
Whatās one challenge youāve overcome that made you stronger?
Share it below, Iād love to hear your story.

According to WordReference, āhold backā means: to prevent someone from doing something; to stop progress.
That hit me hard when I realized⦠my own native language was holding me back from speaking fluently.
I used to translate everything in my head and it made me freeze, overthink, and feel frustrated.
At 23, I started changing that.
I trained my brain to think in English with simple daily habits⦠and it changed my life.
š Tomorrow (Friday) Iām going live to tell you more:
Why your native language might be holding you back and how to stop it.
š 12 PM Costa Rica time

š„ Mistake #1: Translating Everything in Your Head
Stop thinking in your native language before speaking! It slows you down and makes sentences sound unnatural. Instead, train your brain to think in English by describing things around you in real-time.
š„ Mistake #2: Speaking Too Fast to Sound Fluent
Fluency is NOT speed! Many learners think speaking fast makes them sound fluent, but it actually leads to mistakes and nervousness. Slow down, focus on clarity and pronunciation.
š„ Mistake #3: Avoiding Conversations Because Youāre Not āReady.
The biggest fluency killer? Waiting until youāre āgood enoughā to speak. You wonāt get fluent by studying alone, you need real conversation practice!
Which mistake do you relate the most? š¤Æš„ŗ
We fix all of these mistakes inside The Confident Explorer Speaking Club! š Ready to start? Join us on April 7th!
