One of the sneakiest ways we lose trust in ourselves after divorce is by assuming every uncomfortable feeling must mean something.
“I miss my old life” becomes “Maybe I made a mistake.”
“I’m lonely” becomes “Maybe being married was better.”
“This is harder than I expected” becomes “Maybe I chose wrong.”
But you don’t have to turn every emotion into a verdict on your life.
You’re allowed to grieve what you lost AND be grateful for what you’re building.
You’re allowed to miss certain parts of your marriage AND know the marriage wasn’t right for you.
You’re allowed to feel lonely AND still want your independence.
The next time you notice yourself spiraling into second-guessing, ask:
What am I actually feeling, and what story am I attaching to it?
That little bit of separation can help you respond to what you’re actually feeling instead of letting one hard moment make you question everything.
And if you’ve been wondering where to even begin feeling more grounded and trusting yourself again after divorce, I made a free Divorce Recovery Starter Kit for exactly that beginning stage.
