What would you do if you suddenly realised you were on the “wrong” path?
For Wang Yi, the answer was simple: change it.
Just three months into her exchange programme in Hong Kong, she made a bold move—returning to BNBU and switching her major to Digital Social Science.
💭 “Uncertainty exists in every path. So I chose to act first, and figure things out along the way.”
Now, as the first batch of graduates from the programme, she's received offers from Cambridge, UChicago, LSE, UCL and more.
From exploring sociology, psychology, and law, to conducting her first fieldwork interview on the streets of Hong Kong, Wang Yi slowly found what truly excited her: not just describing the world, but understanding why it works the way it does.
At BNBU, she learned to move beyond grades and rediscover curiosity and how to expand her global perspective
Along the way, she realised growth isn’t about being perfect.It’s about being open.
Now, she sees herself differently:
“I feel like a container that keeps growing.”
Her advice?
Imagine who you want to be in five years, and start moving towards it.
Because in her words:
“Everyone has their own timing. And anything is possible.”
