Hello fellow teachers, I've been running an English training school in Xi'an for the last 5 years, and the time has come for me to move on. The school is running at high capacity, despite the pandemic, but I've decided to move to Kunming and teach at an IB International middle school. My business partner would like to continue, but is worried that without an experienced foreign teacher, the parents won't be satisfied and the school will have to close. Would anyone be interested in taking my place? Salary is 20,000 RMB per month, plus 20% ownership and profit sharing. It’s a small school with 5 employees and 150 students. With profit sharing the salary is often 30,000 RMB or more. No shareholders to keep our profits. All shares are owned by the employees. I would love to continue this amazing job but a new job in Kunming is calling me...

Enlightened Education School Philosophy:
This is a community based English training school owned and operated by an American English teacher. We focus primarily on oral language ability, and avoid teaching to the public school exams. Approximately 95% of our students live in our community, and are able to walk to our school, rather than drive or take public transportation. Students are aged 3 to 12, with each class tailored to one age group. We currently have about 120 students. They attend the same kindergarten and primary school, the parents are friends with each other, and a true feeling of community is present. The classes are warm and intimate, with only ten children per class. We use songs, cooperative games, short videos, flashcards, dance, handcrafts, coloring, and total physical response (TPR) to impart understanding of vocabulary and grammar. We provide an English only environment in which the students are engaged and interested, with the goal of developing a love for speaking English. They learn to cooperate with one another and to support one another in the learning process. We avoid competitive games in favor of more engaging activities and interactive games that require the participation of all the students at once.

I recently put together this compilation of my classes. You can see that my teaching style and the school I run is quite unique. At the beginning is some Chinese which says "Enlightened Education, a training institution focused on spoken English". We recently added a new teacher, so I've been recording our classes for training purposes and for marketing to the Chinese parents living nearby our school. Watch in HD, it makes a big difference!

Halloween is coming up. We'll dress-up and go trick-or-treating in the community. We might have time for a little party afterwards. Any suggestions? We want a little bit of American flavor in the Chinese Halloween celebration.
