Founded in May 2014, WISA came into being once we, international students ourselves, realized that an established avenue for cultivating rich cultural experiences and finding solutions to some of the challenges that one would naturally encounter while trying to adapt to a new student life in China was non-existent on the XMU campus. Hence, with this knowledge, and ourselves having experienced some of the difficulties of being immersed into a foreign culture, WISA was borne. WISA therefore aims, not only to be a center of information where international students may find solutions regarding any aspect of student life in Xiamen,- from finding appropriate housing, a dentist or even medical care, to banking, and leisure and entertainment; but also to create a more culturally diverse experience through cross-cultural activities, such as sporting and outdoor activities, excursions, celebrating foreign national holidays, Bar-B-Qs, English Corner and the like. We hope to hear from you, whether you are thinking of studying at Xiamen University, or already a student here at XMU. The WISA team is here to assist you all. We therefore welcome all questions, suggestions or comments that you may have. In other words, WISA is here for you, keeping true to our motto of assisting everyone “become wiser at WISE!”
