Xi’an Hanova International School (Hanova) is a not-for-profit, IB Authorized World School. Established in 2012, Hanova is community-driven, independently owned international school providing high quality education for the international community in Central China. Hanova is recognised and actively supported by the regional Government authorities. Committed to international-mindedness, Hanova embod
ies multi-cultural values and understanding in its students and staff. Our 260 students, aged between 3 and 18, come from 26 different countries and our professional staff hail from 18 different nations. Although the student roll has increased seven-fold since 2012, Hanova maintains an inclusive but selective admissions policy. To better meet the individual needs of the students, our class numbers are limited; from 22 in Primary School to just 15 students in each IB Diploma subject class. Hanova is successfully growing and construction is just about to commence of a second campus that will cater for 700 students, aged 12 to 18, which is due to open with the graduating classes of 2017- 2018. Hanova is dedicated to educational excellence. Committed to the International Baccalaureate (IB), Hanova offers its Primary Years Programme (PYP), its Middle Years Programme (MYP) and our graduating students undertake the internationally renowned IB Diploma Programme (IB DP). Our written and taught curriculum is based on students’ needs and university ambitions. Academic subjects from Year 7 to Year 13 are coordinated ‘top down’ to ensure continuous curriculum coverage. Students in MYP study eight academic groups that include Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Geography, History, Economics, Information Technology, Design, Sciences, Physical Education, Mathematics, Art, Drama and Music. Many of these subjects are linked by inter-disciplinary units of work. At IB Diploma level, in order to meet the university ambitions of our students, we offer a substantial range of 17 different subjects. Students can choose their six subjects from: DP Language A in Chinese, English or Korean, DP Language B in English, French or Mandarin, DP Spanish ab Initio, Economics, Geography, IT in Global Society (ITGS), Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics HL, Mathematics SL, Mathematics Studies SL and Visual Arts. Students can study these at both Higher (HL) and Standard (SL) levels.
