Xidian University proudly held the Opening Ceremony for the Class of 2025 on September 6, welcoming 12,239 new students to embark on their academic journey. With the raising of the national flag and the solemn sound of the national anthem, the ceremony began in the presence of university leaders including Secretary Ren Xiaolong, President Gao Xinbo, Vice Presidents Wang Quan and Zhang Jincheng, alongside faculty and staff. President Gao Xinbo delivered a keynote address titled “Be a Torchbearer of Progress, Be a Unique Xidianer,” encouraging students to uphold the university’s values of unity, diligence, truth, and innovation while pursuing personal growth in service of the nation.

Distinguished alumnus Zhang Xiushen and Professor Zhang Jinfeng also shared their experiences and heartfelt messages, inspiring new students to cherish their time at Xidian, set ambitious goals, and persevere in their studies. In a symbolic moment, Secretary Ren Xiaolong presented the school badge to representatives of the new cohort, officially welcoming them into the Xidian family. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the school anthem “March with the Republic,” marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Class of 2025.

On May 7, a symposium and theme report meeting were held at the National Engineering Research Center, South Campus, celebrating national honors awarded to Xidian University faculty and students. Attendees included university leaders such as Party Secretary Ren Xiaolong, Academician Hao Yue, Vice Presidents Zhang Jincheng and Li Zan, and several honored teachers and students.

Academician Hao Yue presented a report on “Progress and Prospects of Semiconductor Chip Technology,” highlighting global market trends, technological challenges, and encouraging young scholars to innovate, think critically, and tackle key scientific problems.

Speakers including Professors Ma Xiaohua, Zheng Xuefeng, Ning Jing, and others shared personal stories and insights, emphasizing dedication to scientific research, national service, and perseverance. Their reflections deeply resonated with the audience.

Vice President Li Zan praised the honorees, noting that the National Advanced Worker and China Youth May Fourth Medal Group are major national recognitions reflecting the university’s spirit. She called on all students and faculty to emulate these role models—anchoring their ideals in national needs, upholding responsibility, pursuing practical innovation, and contributing to China’s scientific advancement.

The symposium concluded with awards presented by Li Zan and Hao Yue. Honored individuals included Professor Ma Xiaohua, named a National Advanced Worker for over two decades of work in semiconductors, and the third-generation semiconductor core chip research team led by Hao Yue, which won the 2025 China Youth May Fourth Medal Group—marking a first for the university and the only winner from Shaanxi Province.

Young teachers and Red Chaoyang Class representatives presented symbolic gifts—wafer photo frames—to show respect and reaffirm their commitment to national service through technological innovation.
