The Urban Planning and Design Department at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU, China) is excited to introduce a newly reshaped postgraduate taught programme to broaden its scope and actively engage with the international community in a rapidly changing global landscape.

Our 18-month MSc Urban Planning programme offers three distinct pathways tailored to the evolving demands of the profession:

- Urban Regeneration: Focus on revitalising urban spaces and communities to meet the changing needs of socio-economic development.
- Urban Design: Develop innovative design thinking and skills to create sustainable, human-centred urban environments.
- Landscape Design: Explore the integration of nature and urban spaces to enhance livability, biodiversity, and climate sensitivity.

Our curriculum embeds sustainability principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and cutting-edge skills in Generative AI, enabling them to innovate in planning and design through technology. We are honored to be present at the World Urban Forum 12, convened by UN-Habitat in Cairo, Egypt, 4-8 of November, alongside 24,000 participants from 180 countries.

At the Urban Expo, XJTLU Design School will showcase its commitment to “Act Globally & Act Locally” for sustainable urban development in China & worldwide. In partnership with the UN-Habitat Data and Analytics Unit, we will also proudly co-launch the publication “Monitoring Smart Inclusive Transition for an Equitable Urban Future.”

The UN-Habitat book launch symposium was very enjoyable and full of insightful discussions: “Monitoring Smart Inclusive Transition (SIT) towards Equitable Urban Futures, using Global Urban Monitoring Framework”. This was delivered through the collaborative initiative among the UN-Habitat, XJTLU, and Seoul National University.
