The school year is comprised of 180 days divided into trimesters, from August through October, November through February and March to June for Elementary School. The year is divided into two semesters for the Middle and High School. Early Childhood Center
The Early Childhood Center (ECC) programs cater to the needs of our youngest students with a child-centered, experiential environment for 2-5 year olds. Small class sizes and a comfortable mix of structured play, the arts, drama, and pre-academics are key features of the ECC. Elementary School
The Kindergarten through 5th grade day is divided into various learning blocks of time. These learning blocks allow the student to learn the skills and content within each subject area in a more focused framework. Like the Middle school, the Lower School students experience a rich variety of specialist classes. Every student benefits from having several classes of Art, Music, Physical Education, Technology, Library, Guidance and Chinese within our 8 day cycle. Middle School
The school day is divided into two core and two exploratory time blocks. Students have one or two academic courses in each block to cover a topic in depth. Middle School is a time for students to strengthen their basic skills, begin to think and work in the abstract rather than concrete realm, and explore a variety of subjects. High School
The SIS High School is dedicated to experiential learning. Students are actively involved in rigorous, credit bearing classes in the humanities, arts, sciences, math, and other electives. In grades 11 and 12 the students are focused on completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
