🏆The study, “Viscoelastic structural damping enables broadband low-frequency sound absorption,” was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and recognized by the Cozzarelli Prize for outstanding scientific excellence.

PNAS How Soft Materials Enable Better Low-Frequency Sound Absorption

Researchers at Westlake University, led by Prof. Bobo Dang, have just flipped a long-held assumption on its head in a new study published in Vita.

For decades, scientists believed natural proteases only "recognized" one molecular handedness (L-peptides). Not anymore👉 The team showed that key proteases are ambidextrous—able to cleave both L- and D-peptides—uncovered the molecular mechanisms behind this, and translated the insight into a smarter drug design tool with improved stability and tumor targeting.

In short: biology may be far more flexible than we thought—and that opens the door to a new generation of precision therapeutics.
