Grade 1 Inquiry‑Based Learning at ISA Science City✨

Full‑English Output + AR 3D Creation 📱

Within the IB Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry, G1 students conduct conceptual inquiries into animal behaviours and habitats. They compose inquiry‑based written drafts in English, develop visual animal assets, build personalised animal habitats using ARmaker, and present and interpret their inquiry outcomes entirely in English.

This authentic interdisciplinary learning empowers students to move beyond passive knowledge acquisition toward active exploration, creation and expression.👍

Parent’s True Sharing | ISA Science City
For the Chinese lesson, the school invited a professor from South China Agricultural University. Students sampled 16 varieties of lychees in winter and adapted Lychees in Chang’an into a live band performance. Regular community service opportunities nurture students’ empathy. One student independently founded the Blind Awareness Club, served as Student Council President and gained admission to Boston University. IB education never focuses solely on exam scores.

In July 2026, three students from ISA Science City made their first appearance at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC), accompanied by a teacher representative.
🌟 About SIMOC
A truly global mathematics celebration — 2,285 students from 1,113 schools across 40 countries and territories competed together. Only top mathematical talents who qualified through recognised competitions like the American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO) and Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) earned their place on this stage.

In our very first participation, our 3 students achieved:
• 1 Gold Medal 🥇
• 1 Silver Medal 🥈
• 2 Honourable Mentions 🏅

🤝 The Power of ISA Community
At SIMOC 2026, ISA schools came together as one joint delegation in Singapore. While our students and teachers come from different campuses, we formed a highly effective support system throughout the event. Teachers collaborated across campuses to provide comprehensive support at the venue — ensuring safe transit, coordinating logistics, capturing special moments, and staying in close contact with parents. Every student had professional, caring support every step of the way.
The collaborative advantage of ISA's group approach was on full display at this international event.

After sustaining a spinal fracture, the student returned to school wearing a back brace.
A thoughtless joke from classmates wounded him deeply.
There was no malicious intent, nor did it amount to bullying,
yet it shattered the adolescent’s fragile self-esteem completely.
How should this be addressed?
Reprimand the students? Lecture them? Or sweep the issue under the rug?
The grade level head took a different approach —
through a heartfelt initiative involving every student in the grade,
she delivered a silent yet profound lesson on empathy and life.
