2023 Guangdong Province Snooker Championship:
The 2023 Guangdong Snooker Championship has reached a record number of 434 players entries, with many former national champions participating.
The Championship will be held from November 25th to December 1st at Wiraka Billiard Academy, Foshan, China.
The Guangdong Province Snooker Championship is an influential traditional event. Many national first-line players have participated and won the championship in history such as Ding Jun Hui, Zhang An Dao, Mei Xi Wen and Chao Yu Peng. The referee team also consist the most number of referee in China with 30 referees conducting 389 matches in 7 days. 95% of the team are either international certified referee or China Grade 1 referee certified. This tournament has continued to play an active role in cultivating and discovering snooker talents. Supervision Snooker Master was used in this Championship with 7 sets of Snooker Master Auto Scoring System and 6 sets of Snooker Master Manual Scoring System.
Wiraka has hosted international and national events such as the Asian City Club League and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Snooker Open, and has many experiences in hosting games.
This competition is sponsored by the Guangdong Province Social Sports and Training Competition Centre, hosted by the Guangdong Province Snooker Association, Foshan Billiards Association and Nanhai District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, Wiraka Billiard Academy, Foshan, China.
Hainsworth Top Table Commercial Director, Ms Diane Simpson also took time out during her China trip to visit the tournament. She mentioned, “We’ve been privilege to work with Wiraka for those 24 years to supply Hainsworth cloth for the tournament, and we see the following of the players and to be going as long as the tournament has been going as a testament to how successful the tournament is so therefore we’re very proud to be part of that.”.
