🦷✨ A very special day at the dentist!

This week, our students from grades 1–5 learned all about the importance of healthy teeth and proper dental care — not just in theory, but firsthand during their visit to the dental practice.

Getting to explore the clinic, sit in a real dental chair, ask questions, and even receive a small check-up made the experience exciting and memorable for everyone. 😊

A big thank you to Dr. Metzmacher and the amazing team for their time and for making the children feel so welcome and helping some of them overcome their fear of visiting the dentist with kindness, patience, and lots of smiles. 🪥✨

What a night to remember! 🌙✨

All grade 4 students from the Swiss School Beijing and the WAB came together for a fun-filled sleepover at school to build friendships and create memories. This sleepover is also a preparation for next year’s joint field trips.

From games and a pool party to stand-up paddling and lots of laughter, the students enjoyed 2 days full of adventure, teamwork, and community spirit.

By the next afternoon, everyone was definitely tired — but also proud, happy, and excited to have shared this special experience together. 💙

Over the past few weeks, our 1st and 2nd grade students have been exploring the fascinating technique of in their Textile Design class. 🌿🖼️

This is an old photographic printing process where objects are placed on light-sensitive fabric and exposed to sunlight, creating beautiful blue-and-white prints. 🌞🔵

Using this technique, they’ve created stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces of art that blend creativity and science. From delicate floral prints to abstract designs, their work is truly inspiring!

We are so proud of their creativity and hands-on learning experience. Well done, everyone!

🌍 Making the Earth a Cleaner Place Starts with Us!

For the second year in a row, we celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up a local park in Beijing. 🌿 It's heartbreaking to see how much waste accumulates in public spaces – from plastic bottles to litter, it often ends up scattered across the city.

Our cleanup was a small but meaningful step toward tackling this issue, and we’re so proud to continue this tradition!

After the cleanup, we relaxed with a cozy picnic and enjoyed some delicious snacks, provided by our families.
Back at school, we got creative with a crafting session at school using recycling materials. It was a great way to discuss how we can all reduce our environmental footprint. ♻️

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped to make a difference!

Once a year, we switch roles and let our students take the lead. They share what they’ve explored, created, and learned so far this year—and give insight into how they learn.

The classroom turnes into a space full of interactive stations. Visitors can move from one station to the next, try hands-on activities, explore experiments, and dive into the different topics we’ve covered over the past months.

Each station is designed and presented by the students themselves—making their learning visible, tangible, and meaningful.

It’s truly wonderful to see how proud our students are as they showcase their growth.

Science & Engineering Showcase

This week, 7th and 8th-grade students from the Western Academy of Beijing and therefore also our Swiss School students, took part in an inspiring project where they explored topics in Engineering, Scientific Methodology, or Research – all through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

They learned how to research, solve problems, and think creatively while developing crucial skills like teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. From innovative ideas to impactful solutions, we’re so proud of their hard work!

Huge congratulations to all the participants for their impressive presentations!

The sun is shining, the air is fresh, and our school garden is coming to life! Over the past few weeks, our students have enthusiastically planted sunflower and nasturtium seeds, learning not only how to safely use a spade, but also how much patience and care it takes to nurture plants.

And then came the moment we’ve all been waiting for: our very first harvest! Our homegrown garden cress 🌱 was ready to taste – and what a flavor it had!

😋 The mild, peppery kick was a hit with everyone. We are looking forward to enjoying it with fresh cheese and bread!

It’s these little, yet meaningful moments that remind us how much joy and learning there is to be found in nature. 💚

🌍 The Importance of “Heimat” in Swiss Schools Abroad 🇨🇭

At Swiss schools abroad, it’s essential to give students a connection to their and roots. In a world where kids grow up across different countries and cultures, keeping that bond with their origins can be a challenge.

Right now, in our Community Time, we’re diving into the project, where students explore the Swiss cantons, learn about their diversity, and share their findings. It’s not just about geography—it’s about truly connecting with Swiss culture and identity.

These projects not only deepen understanding of one’s own but also strengthen the and community among students. “Heimat” isn’t just a place; it’s part of personal growth and cultural diversity, no matter where you are.

For non-Swiss students, this exploration of Switzerland is a chance to feel more connected to both the school and the country they’re in. Understanding , history, and traditions helps them find their place in this global community.

For us, as a Swiss school abroad, it’s an honor to offer this opportunity—whether our students come from Switzerland or not. “Heimat” is more than just a place—it’s a feeling that can be experienced from anywhere.

Even during break time at Swiss School Beijing, learning continues in the most beautiful way.

While others play, some of our students choose to crochet together — focused, calm, and proud of every stitch. 🧶

What may look like a simple hobby is so much more. In these quiet minutes, they are learning patience, perseverance, and confidence. They are supporting one another, sharing ideas, and feeling proud of every stitch they finish.

At our school, learning doesn’t stop when the bell rings. It continues in small, meaningful moments like this — moments where creativity grows and children discover what they are capable of.
