Announcement of 6th Beihang World Debate Academy

Dear all,

We are proud to announce that 6th Beihang World Debate Academy 2018 will be held from Aug 5th to 12th at Beihang University (Xueyuan Road Campus). The entire academy will provide you with a five-day intensive workshop and a three-day tournament with seven in-rounds and four out-rounds. Debaters may choose to participate in the entire academy or only in the tournament. We would also like to invite university teachers to participate in our teacher training program. Below is the detailed info about this academy.

1st Beijing Debate Novice Cup (BDNC) - CA Team Announcement

It is less than a month to the tournament, and we are officially announcing our fantastic CA team. But before that, some general replies are given to people who may have the same concern.

As for Independent Adjudicator application, we have posted a linkage at the end of this article. Please fill out the form, and we will respond to you via WeChat or email in a couple of days.
As for registration, we will post the linkage on Sept. 20th. Until then, please wait patiently. And details about accommodation, commuting, nearby restaurants, etc. will be also posted after the registration begins.

Now, introducing our CA team:

Co-CA: Franny Solnick

Franny Solnick is a lecturer at Beihang University and current coach of the Beihang English Debate Society. She has broken as a judge in three continents and over 30 competitions, including FLTRP Nationals in 2017, US Nationals in 2016 and 2014, and European Championships 2015. She has chaired the finals of the Rijeka Open 2017 and Sofia Open 2017, and judged the finals of the Canton IV, Macau Debate Open, Beijing Debate Challenge, Changping Debate Open, Hong Kong Debate Open, SOAS Open. Franny's speaking CV includes breaks to finals at George Washington IV, where she was top speaker, PanAmerican Championships, St. Anselm's, WestConn Regionals, and the Vienna IV. She has also served as a trainer at the North American Debate Academy and the Beihang Debate Academies in the winter and spring. Previously she has served as a CA for the Dalian Open 2016 and Huber IV 2015.

Co-CA: Timothy Hampson

Tim is lecturer at Beijing Dublin International College. When he isn't trying to achieve his life goal of trying every jianbing shop in Beijing, he is involved in debate training and organising debate events. He has been CA of the Shanghai Alternative Open and Suzhou Debate Open. He's broken as a judge at over twenty competitions in the UK, Korea and China and been a grand finals judge at both the Korean and Chinese national schools championships.
