lasses. And 6 grades: Junior 1,2,3 and Senior 1,2,3,aging from about12 years old to 17 years old. We have two campuses: the southern part and the northern part. The total area of our school is 58,432 square meters, of which 35,000 square meters belongs to the main building. Education centers, sports centers, recreation centers, science labs and internet information centre are all available for teachers and students to provide excellent facilities. Based on the concept of “education through life, through activities, through teaching”, we are firmly carrying out the national curriculums and its education principles. We combine both humanism and science research in our education. We also attach great importance to lifelong learning of each single individual as well as self-motivation in school curriculums, activities and social practice. Besides, in recent years, we have also created a wide range of our own curriculums including over 100 optional courses covering the field of arts, sports, science which benefit our students a great deal. With the support and the guidance of the government and education committee of D**g Cheng District, we are improving our ways of running school and perfecting our education quality in recent years. In the process of carrying out the New Curriculum Standards and Essential-Qualities-Oriented Schooling, we have accumulated some experience in promoting quality education and have achieved a great deal. The guiding principle for running our school is that we are making all efforts to develop every student’s personality, grace, knowledge and wisdom, making them all-round individuals. In recent years, a growing number of talented students of our school have entered Peking University, Tsinghua University which are most famous universities in China as well as world famous ones including Yale University, Harvard University, Berkeley University, Northwestern University, MIT(Massachusetts Institute of Technology) , University of Washington in the States, and Imperial College London in the UK, Tokyo University in Japan. Every year over 300 students from our school are admitted to universities and 95% of them enter key universities. Thus, by 2011, our school has been honored as one of the 19 best high schools in Beijing for elite university students by Tsinghua University—the most influential university in China and some other key universities. There are more than 40 students’ clubs in our school among which our school choir named “Golden Sail Choir” is the most famous one. Our school has become the unique one for children’s choir in NCPA (National Centre for Performing Arts). And our school choir has won national first prizes for professionals many times and performed in different countries on behalf of Beijing. Volunteers’ club makes us bring education into local communities and receive good feedbacks. Our school is under taking the principle of “ keeping great Chinese traditions and absorbing international multicultures” at the same time. We’ve cooperated with UK, France, Canada, Australia, Singapore on international exchange programs through Confucius Classroom to educate more qualified global citizens.
