Short Term Enrichment Program

The Short Term Enrichment Program (STEP) offers international participants a valuable opportunity to be immersed in the culture and business environment of the United States while enhancing their business English skills. This English immersion program will also provide the participant with personal rewards as well as career exploration on a global scale.

What is STEP

STEP is an introduction to the U.S. work practices and business English. Placement at a host organization provides the overseas participants with the opportunity to observe and briefly experience American business operation, practice their English and grow their independence. This is a non-paid volunteer position for up to three month. Because of the English language and cultural immersion components of the program, participants arrive on B1/B2 visitor’s visa. The coordinators carefully match and place each participant based on English ability and individual program focus. To further enhance the cultural immersion component, the participant lives with a CHI-selected host family. Local coordinators will be overseeing the program, providing guidance and assistance.

Requirements

The applicant is required to:

• Be between the ages of 18 - 30.

• Have a functional command of the English language.

• Understands and embrace the STEP culture.

• Complete the application and submit supporting documents at least 12 weeks prior to the program dates.
