This weekend, we challenged ourselves by climbing the third-highest mountain in Yaoundé. It was tough. Tiring. Difficult. In fact, we almost gave up. But our team leader wasn't leaving anyone behind — so we pushed on.
Step by step, breath by breath... And eventually, we made it to the top.
The feeling when we reached the summit? Exhilarating! 💃
It reminded me so much of life. The journey to our goals is rarely easy. We cry. We curse. We question why we even started. Sometimes, we want to turn back. But if we keep going…If we stay with those who won’t let us give up…
We’ll reach the summit. And when we do, we realize — it was all worth it. It is a beautiful view from the top!!!

It was an exciting day yesterday as the students did their ISP presentations. They not only presented the reasearch, but their lived reflections while in Cameroon. They honored Cameroonian voices with clarity and passion through each of their unique topic. Thank you for your thoughtful work, you've left a lasting impression. I'm proud of my Spring 2025 group!!!🥰

This past week, the SIT Study Abroad program in Cameroon, in partnership with Dickinson College, hosted a Group Site Visit that brought together distinguished guests, including the President of SIT, colleagues from SIT's University Relations department, and faculty and staff from various American universities.

Throughout the week, we engaged in rich discussions about the new program launching this Fall in Cameroon. We attended insightful lectures led by Cameroonian professors, participated in sessions with NGOs and guest speakers, and visited UCAC. A highlight of the visit was our excursion to Batoufam, where we had the honor of meeting the Chief and members of the community, gaining a deeper understanding of how local traditions and governance contributes to community development.

The experience was not only academically enriching but also culturally immersive. From the drop-off exercise to dance performances with current students and an art exposition featuring Cameroonian artist Max Lyonga, the week was filled with meaningful exchanges, collaboration, and celebration of learning.

It was a truly inspiring and successful gathering, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and strengthening connections between institutions. Looking forward to seeing how this program continues to grow and impact students in the years to come!

Accelerating Action: Celebrating Women’s Day at SIT Cameroon

Threads of history woven into fabric, bold patterns whispering stories of resilience—this is how we honor International Women’s Day at SIT Cameroon. In a world that calls for urgency, for bold steps forward, we stand together beneath the banner of this year’s theme: Accelerate Action.

In Yaoundé, where tradition and transformation intertwine, we do not merely mark this day—we embody it. Dressed in vibrant, custom-tailored garments, our students and staff walk in the footsteps of those who came before us while forging new paths of our own. Each stitch speaks of power, each color sings of a future where gender equality is not just a dream, but a lived reality.

From the halls of academia to the streets alive with celebration, we are more than spectators; we are architects of change. The energy is palpable—a shared understanding that the time for hesitation has passed. Here, in the warmth of community, we amplify voices, uplift stories, and commit ourselves to the work ahead.

Let these photos be more than snapshots; let them be a testament. A testament to the women who have shaped us, to the men who stand as allies, to the generations yet to come who will see in us a reason to believe. Because at SIT Cameroon, we do not wait for change—we accelerate it

We had the privilege of spending last week at Batoufam.😊Our students enjoyed the beautiful palace, and learned about endogenous systems of governance, arts and cultural characteristics of the Bamileke and post colonial African societies.

Today we visited two Bagyeli communities😊. It was a pleasure to observe and exchange with communities who are experiencing social change due to development projects.
