TENSES AND CONJUGATION OF VERBS
1)- PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE (Le présent de l'indicatif):
*To sleep... Dormir
👉I sleep 👉We sleep
👉You sleep 👉You sleep
👉He/she sleeps 👉They sleep
★Uses: *To talk about things we do again and again. I play football on Saturdays
*To talk about things which are always true. The sun rises from the east.
2)- PRESENT CONTINUOUS/PROGRESSIVE TENSE (Le présent progressif de l'indicatif)
👉I'm sleeping 👉 we're sleeping
👉You're sleeping 👉You're sleeping
👉He/she's sleeping 👉 They're sleeping
★Uses: *To describe things at moment we are talking. The children are making a noise.
*To complain about something emphatically. You're always talking in class.
*We do not usually use the present continuous with to believe, to think, to understand, to fear, to have, to love, to hate.
3)- THE PAST SIMPLE TENSE (Le passé simple de l'indicatif)
*To play... Dormir
Regular verbs, add -ed:
👉I played 👉We played
👉You played 👉 You played
👉He/she played 👉They played
★Remark: Many verbs have irregular past forms. E.g: Mr MICHAEL “won” the 2015 presidential elections in Cameroon.
4)- THE PAST PROGRESSIVE TENSE (L'imparfait)
👉I was playing 👉We were playing
👉You were playing 👉 You were playing
👉He/she was playing 👉They were playing
★Uses: *To describe a continuous action in the past.
WORD FORMATION (Préfixes and Suffixes)
Prefix and Suffix are added to root forms. Also known as affixes, they are added to either end of a word. When added at the beginning of a word, it's known as a prefix.
Examples are: un-..., dis-..., im-..., mis-...
*Un- + certain = uncertain (incertain)
*Dis- + appear = disappear (disparaître)
*Im- + possible = impossible (impossible)
*Mis- + understand = misunderstand (mal entendu)
The addition at the end of a word is known as a suffix.
Examples are: -ness, -ful, -less, -ship
*Happy + ness = happiness (Bonheur)
*Care + ful = careful (attentif, prudent)
*End + less = endless (interminable)
*Friend + ship = friendship (amitié).

There are 09 parts of speech...
1- Nouns:
A nouns is a word that refert to :
* a person: Serge, Man, Boy...
* a thing: table, house, sugar...
* an animal : cat, dog, perot...
* a place : Yaounde, Cameroon, Africa...
a))- PROPES AND COMMON NOUNS:
_Propers nouns begins with capital letter and never take plurals.
e.g: propers nouns of people: Serge.
propers nouns of place: Yaounde.
_commons nouns begins with small letter and take plural.
e.g: the people: a man_men
the place: a house_houses
the animal: a dog_dogs
the thing: a bag_bags
b))- ABSTRACT/CONTRAST NOUN:
_Abstract
That we can't see, touch or hear. They use no indefinites articles and plurals.
e.g: beauty, love, friendship.
_Concrate:
That we see, wish, they take plural.
e.g: a dog_a dogs; a car_a cars
c))- UNCOUNTABLE AND COUNTABLE NOUNS:
_UNCOUNTABLE:
That we can't count. They take no indefinite article no plural.
e.g: money_moneys; milk_milk; oil_oil; water_waters
_COUNTABLE:
That we count, they take plurals.
e.g: pepers, tables...
N.B: *Plural of nouns: there are 03 aspects: regular plural, irregular plural and invariable.
_Regular plural: they take "S" : a dog_dogs and take "es" after...

SS: a kiss__kisses
X : a box__boxes
SH: a wish__wishes
CH: a church__churches
