When is remaining single better than getting married?
For some people, marriage is a sunnah muʾakkadah; for others, it may be farḍ or wājib; for others, makrūh; and for some, even ḥarām. Its ruling depends on the individual and their circumstances.
Marriage should not be taken lightly. Before considering marriage, a person should honestly assess their ability to fulfil the rights and responsibilities of a spouse. If marriage would likely lead them to fall into disobedience or cause them to neglect the rights of their spouse, then remaining single may be better for them.
