BUIB School of Health Sciences Celebrates International Nurses Week 2026

The School of Health Sciences of the Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) on Saturday, May 16, 2026, joined the national and international community in commemorating the 2026 International Nurses Week under the theme: “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”
The celebration aimed at honoring nurses for their dedication, excellence, and vital role in the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Speaking during the event, the Representative of the Vice Chancellor, the Director of Administration and Finance of BUIB, Mr. Laurence Francis Biaka, congratulated nurses and student nurses for choosing the noble profession of saving lives. He encouraged them to remain committed to their studies and professional ethics, to put God first in the discharge of their duties, and to embrace innovation while remaining vigilant against quackery and misinformation in the healthcare sector.

Activities marking the celebration included a colorful parade from Checkpoint Molyko through the BUIB campus, motivational talks by healthcare professionals, cultural displays, comedy, entertainment, and vibrant social interactions that brought together both students and seasoned practitioners in the nursing field.

The event once again highlighted BUIB’s commitment to training competent and compassionate healthcare professionals for the future.

Biaka Group Hosts Danish Delegation for Academic Assessment

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Biaka Group had the honor of welcoming a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Denmark, alongside officials from the University of Buea, for a fact-finding mission focused on academic standards.

The delegation, led by the Consul General of Denmark in Cameroon, His Excellency Guillaume Nseke, toured the Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) and received a detailed presentation on its academic programmes, which are mentored by the University of Buea.

During the visit, the Head of Mission expressed strong satisfaction with BUIB’s modern facilities and the quality of its certificates, while commending the leadership of Dr. Francisca Hongla Biaka.

Also speaking during the visit, the Registrar of the University of Buea, Professor Eneke Tambe Bechem, praised BUIB’s relevance, steady growth, and its strong potential for long-term sustainability.

This important visit, authorized by the Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, highlights the growing recognition of BUIB’s commitment to academic excellence and international collaboration.

Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) becomes Member of The Education Collaborative, a major step in strengthening collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence. The confirmation comes after BUIB’s participation at the 2026 West Africa Hub Convening.

This milestone opens doors to research partnerships, funding opportunities, and knowledge-sharing platforms, while positioning BUIB within a dynamic network of institutions across Africa through the West Africa Hub.

On May 1st, the Labour day celebrations at Biaka Group was one with energy, connection, and appreciation as staff gathered on campus to mark the day.
Key highlights included the inspiring speeches delivered by the Staff Representative and the CEO, both emphasizing the value of dedication, unity, and the vital role every worker plays in the growth of the institution. Their words set a reflective and motivating tone for the event.
The atmosphere quickly shifted into celebration, with music, dance, and fun games bringing staff together in a relaxed and joyful setting. It was a moment not just to celebrate work, but to celebrate the people behind it. 💙
