Importance of Tailoring your CV to every job before applying
Crafting a killer CV and cover letter? ✍️ Don't just send the same old document for every job! Tailoring them to each specific role is KEY.
Why? 🤔
• Shows You Care: It proves you've actually researched the company and understand what they're looking for.
• Highlights Relevant Skills: Focus on the skills and experience that directly match the job description.
• Beats the ATS: Many companies use applicant tracking systems (ATS). Tailoring helps your application get noticed.
How to Tailor:
• Read the job description carefully.
• Identify keywords and skills.
• Use those keywords in your CV and cover letter.
• Highlight relevant achievements.
Make each application count! Good luck! 👍

Why So Many Young People Struggle to Find Work . The Real Employability Challenge
Many young people today are educated, skilled, and full of ambition, yet still struggle to find decent work. The problem isn’t always a lack of talent; it’s often a gap between what the job market demands and what young people are prepared for.
Employers want experience, but few are willing to give young people the chance to gain it. Technical know-how is valued, but soft skills such as communication, teamwork, adaptability are often what make the difference, and these aren’t always taught in school.
Also limited mentorship, poor access to career guidance, and shrinking job opportunities are also some of the reasons youth don’t have jobs.
At African Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building Academy AYECBA, we believe employability isn’t just about finding a job; it’s about building capacity, confidence, and networks that prepare young people to create opportunities, not just wait for them.
What do you think is the biggest barrier keeping youth from becoming more employable today? 💬

Dear All,
As we bid farewell to 2023 and welcome the promising year of 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey I have embarked upon. Last year presented me with a profound dilemma: the choice between personal growth and the vision of our organizations. I made a courageous decision to prioritize my personal and family development, and I commend myself for the strides I have made and the achievements I have accomplished. It is through these personal triumphs that i find the strength and inspiration to contribute to the greater good.
However, as I reflect on the past year, I also acknowledge that there is room for growth and improvement. I have come to realize that personal growth need not be at the expense of my vision. In fact, i can harmoniously pursue both, fostering my development while dedicating myself to the realization of my organization's goals.
The dawn of 2024 brings with it a renewed sense of purpose and determination. This year, I will concentrate more on my vision, ensuring that i continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of youth around the world. The African Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building Academy (AYECBA) will rise again in full force, embodying our commitment to empowering and uplifting young individuals.
As i embark on this journey, let me remember that personal growth and the pursuit of my organization's vision are not mutually exclusive. They complement and reinforce one another, allowing me to become the best versions of myself while making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
I am confident that 2024 will be a year of great achievements, both personally and for the AYECBA. Together (with my team), we will inspire and empower the youth, nurturing their potential and helping them overcome barriers. Our collective efforts hold the power to shape a brighter future, not only for ourselves but for generations to come.
Wishing you a year filled with purpose, resilience, and boundless success.
Happy New Year 2024 , to all AYECBA alumni, instructors , partners and BOD.
