The TAGDev 2.0 program of the University of Bamenda, on the 16th of October 2025, organized a workshop to retool staff of Universities, TVETs and PHEIs in the North West region. The meeting discussed the transformative education agenda, emphasizing the need for universities to integrate stakeholder feedback and develop inclusive policies. Key points included the importance of experiential learning, problem-based learning, and international partnerships. The discussion also covered the six-phase incubation cycle, the role of business process outsourcing (BPO) in reducing costs, and the need for intellectual property protection.
Discussions on gender differences in educational focus, with females more theoretical and males more practical, highlighting the need to include persons with disabilities and young women.. Solutions to this included reorganizing classrooms, teamwork, and critical thinking. The workshop focused on the TAGDev 2.0 program, aiming to drive inclusive, equitable, and resilient socio-economic development in African societies, promoting expanding work opportunities for youth, improving climate-adaptive agriculture, and enhancing higher agricultural education creating 900 startups, 170 spinoffs, and 30,000 jobs in Cameroon through strategies like policy reviews, academic program updates, and staff training. The training reiterate on the need of translating policies into actionable programs, the significance of intersectionality in design, and the five inclusion principles by MasterCard Foundation in creating transformative education. The conversation also covered the challenges of out-of-school youths, proposing entrepreneurship skills, community-based agricultural advisors, and industry collaboration. The importance of human-centered design, empathy, and gender-responsive pedagogy was stressed, along with the need for continuous learning and inclusive practices in education and training. Success stories highlighted the creation of 13 startups, job creation, and patent acquisitions.

In a bid to equip Private Higher Education Institutes and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the West and North West regions with the skills to develop job market-driven curriculum, a training session was held under the mentorship of the University of Bamenda. The training, organized by the TAGDev 2.0 programme in partnership with the University of Bamenda, RUFORUM, and the MasterCard Foundation, brought together participants from various institutions to educate them on the programme's objectives and implementation strategies.
The TAGDev 2.0 programme aims at transforming African agricultural universities to contribute meaningfully to Africa's growth and development. During the training, participants were schooled on how to set up and manage community nurseries to enhance climate-adaptive horticulture production, policy and curriculum development, institutional strengthening, and skills-oriented training for students. They also learned about measurement, evaluation, and learning indicators for the TAGDev 2.0 programme.
This training session at the UBa Bambili campus follows similar events held for private higher institutions and Technical and Vocational Training Institutions in the Littoral, South West, and Centre regions. The onboarding programmes are designed to empower institutions to develop curriculum that meets the demands of the job market, ultimately contributing to the region's economic growth and development.
By focusing on practical skills development and job market relevance, these training sessions are poised to have a positive impact on the region's education sector and economy.

Staff of Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in the Centre Region are currently being drilled on their engagements to deliver on the TAGDev 2.0 programme in a seminar in Yaoundé.
During his keynote address the Project Coordinator of the TAGDev 2.0 programme Professor Suh Cheo Emmanuel emphasized on the need for the Private Higher Institutes of Learning to make their programmes relevant in order to meet the pressing concerns of the job market.
The officials from the Private Higher Education Institutes are being educated among others on the setting up and management of a community nursery to improve on climate adaptive horticulture production, facilitating the participation of internally displaced persons, refugees and persons with Disabilities, gender Inclusiveness and safeguarding, policies and curriculum development for institutional strengthening and skills-oriented training for students, the measurement, evaluation and learning indicators of the TAGDev 2.0.

Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in the Littoral and South West Regions have partnered with the TAGDev 2.0 Programme to explore strategies for strengthening the delivery of inclusive and entrepreneurial education. This was during a capacity-building workshop held in Buea.
During the workshop, officials from various PHEIs were enlightened on the objectives of the TAGDev 2.0 programme. Key topics discussed included the establishment and management of a community nursery to improve climate-adaptive horticulture, and approaches for better inclusion of refugees, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), and Gender Inclusiveness and Safeguarding (GIS) and data disaggregation for impact on the program.
There were also presentations on policy and curriculum development aimed at institutional strengthening and promoting skills-based training for students. Additionally, participants were briefed on the communication strategy of the TAGDev 2.0 programme.

Discussions on ways of transforming Africa's agricultural universities so that they can make meaningful contributions to the continent's development are taking place at a training workshop in Buea.
The Cameroon Opportunity Industrialization Centre (COIC) is hosting the onboarding event, that also seeks to ensure that the universities as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions, undergo a significant retooling process , focusing on modernizing their curriculum and facilities.
This event is organised by a programme known as TAGDev 2.0, in partnership with the University of Bamenda, Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and the Mastercard Foundation.
The workshop's theme, " Africa's young people and their institutions: Driving inclusive and equitable socioeconomic development in their societies," highlights the importance of empowering young people with relevant skills to drive socioeconomic development.

INCLUSION IN ACTION!
The TAGDev 2.0 Program at the University of Bamenda organised a Strategic Learning Event on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Gender, Inclusion, and Safeguarding (GIS)—bringing together over 100 students with disabilities, staff, and faculty to explore how inclusive data and participation can transform the university spaces.
With dynamic presentations, open dialogue, and expert insights, the workshop focused on the overview of the TAGDev 2.0 program, MEL, data disaggregation, inclusive strategies, and safeguarding to ensure no one is left behind in education and livelihood opportunities.

UBa-TIIC and TAGDev 2.0 Strengthen Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The University of Bamenda
The University of Bamenda Technology, Innovation and Incubation Centre (UBa-TIIC), with support from the TAGDev 2.0 program, has held a transformative workshop aimed at structuring and operationalizing its incubation center to better serve the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The workshop brought together the university’s administration, UBa-TIIC staff, partners, and stakeholders to explore ways of restructuring and equipping the center with essential structures and facilities and systems while ensuring its procedures are clear and effectively implemented.
