Columbia undergrads organize a tech trek to Santiago
Columbia undergraduate students visited Santiago during the Thanksgiving break. They visited Fundación Chile, Betterfly, Nubox, ACU Abogados, NotCo, Zeppelin, BCI and Daedalus Ventures as part of a tech trek. The Columbia Organization of Rising Entrepreneurs organized the trip to expose the students to Chilean entrepreneurship and technological advancements. Student Hassane Fiteni contacted the Columbia Alumni Association of Chile to ask for help with the trip organization. Board members Jorge Domínguez Cruzat and Alex Hazbún organized them some site visits. During their time in Santiago, students met with alumni living in Chile to celebrate Thanksgiving at La Resistencia Café in Providencia.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR MENTORS!
Emprende tu Mente, the organizers of EtMday, International Meeting of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Investment, invite the Columbia alumni community in Chile to participate in the 2023 edition of this event, which will take place next week on Thursday, November 16, and Friday, November 17, at Parque Bicentenario in Vitacura.
Emprende tu Mente is a non-profit that connects entrepreneurs and startups with corporate leaders to promote economic and social development in Chile and the LATAM region.
This will be the third edition of EtMday. The organization is working with a significant portion of the Chilean and regional entrepreneurship, innovation and investment ecosystem. The goal is to to repeat this event annually, position Chile as the regional hub of innovation, entrepreneurship and investment, making EtMday the main event of this kind in Latin America.
The invitation to Columbia alumni is to participate in one-on-one mentoring. These are personalized advisory sessions where experts share their knowledge to provide support to early-stage entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses or facing specific challenges. The idea is to do this through close, one-on-one conversations where they can offer advice, share experiences, make connections, and more.
The mentoring categories include sales strategy, marketing, branding & storytelling, business model, finance & accounting, legal, sustainability, financing, digital transition & e-commerce. Each mentoring session lasts one hour and advises two entrepreneurs. As you can see, it does not require an extensive commitment, just one hour of your time. Each mentor can sign up for their preferred theme and time slot that is available. There is no need to prepare a presentation or follow a fixed methodology; it's more about listening to the entrepreneur.
We are looking to contribute with at least five mentors in a Global Center - Columbia Alumni stand, providing more people with access to knowledge and development.
Mentors who register will receive a complimentary ticket to the event, which will also feature various interesting activities such as business meetings, panel discussions, entrepreneur stands, and more.
You can review the complete schedule here: https://www.etmday.org/programa
Additionally, here you can see a summary of EtMday 2022 to get excited: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua8hsrFQZPI
To address questions and register, please write to María Ignacia Comminetti, Content and Ecosystem Leader at Emprende tu Mente ([email protected]).
¡Revive el EtMday Santiago 2022! Estamos muy felices por el resultado de esta gran fiesta del emprendimiento. Más de 20.000 emprendedores, gerentes, inversionistas y distintos actores del ec...

Chileans who are traveling to New York City to start their studies at Columbia University attended a farewell lunch in Santiago. It was great to meet students who are going to different schools such as Law, Journalism, Business, Architecture, Planning and Preservation, Professional Studies, Social Work, Arts and Engineering and one student who's going to Columbia College. We welcome them to the Columbia community!

Alumni and their families went to the Museo Marítimo Nacional, where Professor Marco Fernández offered a guided tour of part of the museum's collection and the Antarctic Room.

Our 2022 annual celebration took place at Hotel Cumbres Lastarria on December 6. During the reception, Alfredo Etcheberry ’55LAW received the Outstanding Columbia University Alumnus Award. The pandemic had forced us to suspend this ceremony in 2020 and 2021. The event was an opportunity for alumni to catch up before the year ended.
In memory of Karen Poniachik ’90SIPA, our friend, mentor and driving force behind the CAA Chile, the Santiago Global Center launched the Memory Album, a book featuring anecdotes and stories describing the experiences of more than 200 Chilean alumni while at Columbia.
As 2023 begins, we wish you all the best for this year.
