Lingzhi, better known as Reishi, is quite common here in Wudang mountains. It is the ancient "mushroom of immortality", revered for over 2,000 years (some evidence suggesting use in Neolithic China 6,800 years ago). One of the most important effects of this mushroom is that it boosts the immune system, several studies have shown that it can lead to the death of cancer cells. In Chinese, the name Lingzhi represents a combination of spiritual potency and essence of immortality, and is regarded as the “herb of spiritual potency,” symbolizing success, well-being, divine power, and longevity.
