🔹 Following the signing of a MoU with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and the Bhutanese Embassy in Switzerland during the 2025 Davos World Economic Forum. From April 10-20, a delegation from the Singularity Academy, led by Prof. Dr. ir. Ying Zhang and Dr. iur. Urs Lustenberger, undertook a landmark mission to Bhutan. This visit not only deepened bilateral relations but also established novel standards for sustainable development through creative initiatives and strategic collaborations.

Our core accomplishments:

✅ Healthcare & Wellbeing: Traditional Tibetan medicine is being integrated with German medical technology and Swiss academic knowledge. This strategic integration also facilitates the development of mental health programs that align with Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness (GNH) objectives, with the aim of promoting the overall well - being of the population.

✅ Clean Energy Advancements: Identifying pathways for hydrogen mobility and green hydrogen production, leveraging Bhutan’s abundant hydropower resources.

✅ Educational Collaboration: Customizing courses for eco-tourism and business law, fostering academic exchanges and talent development.

✅ Sustainable Tourism: Crafting strategies to preserve Bhutan’s cultural heritage while developing high-value tourism experiences.

✅ Timber Engineering & Sustainable Construction: Pioneering sustainable wood engineering for buildings and driving eco-friendly urban and transport development.

In this trip, Häring AG as the representative of Swiss Timber Industry joined the visit.

🔹 Asia isn’t just “growing”—it’s rewriting how the global game works. The recent publication, The Transformation of Asia and Its Global Impact, Dr. iur. Urs Lustenberger and Prof. Dr. ir. Ying Zhang (April 6, 2025) developed to contribute to the (SwissCham Asia’s Partner). Its purpose is to provide an overview of transformative Asia and, particularly, some advice to the South Asia region, such as Pakistan.

🔹 Think Japan and South Korea rising from post-war rubble to tech giants. Now, China’s infrastructure chess moves, and India’s code-forging workforce are writing the next chapter. Asia’s not a monolith. While tariffs and geopolitical poker games rattle the West, countries like Pakistan sit at a crossroads—waiting, watching, and quietly building bridges.

🔹 Tech? Asia’s not just adopting it—they’re remixing it. From Shenzhen’s AI labs to India’s outsourcing empires, imitation turned to innovation. And let’s not forget K-pop diplomacy or lunar landers—soft power with a side of rockets.

🔹 But it’s not all shiny gadgets and GDP charts. Inequality, climate risks, and Trump’s Reciprocal Tariffs threaten to derail progress. For Pakistan (and the rest of us), the lesson’s clear: bet on education, green energy, and regional teamwork.

Singularity Academy, in collaboration with SwissCham Asia, had the honor of hosting His Excellency Tshering Tobgay Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan at the World Economic Forum in Klosters-Davos. The Prime Minister highlighted Bhutan’s investment opportunities in hydrogen energy, sustainable timber, and hospitality education, reinforcing the country’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

📃 A key moment was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
between Singularity Academy, SwissCham Asia, and the Kingdom of Bhutan. The MoU, aimed at promoting collaboration in education, renewable energy, and resource management, was signed by Prof. Dr. ir. Ying Zhang of Singularity Academy, Ambassador Tenzin Wangchuck of Bhutan, and Dr. iur. Urs Lustenberger President of SwissCham ASIA.
