I promised myself I would break the systems that oppress the many—union corruption being one.✨ I’m a woman of my word.

Honored to have had the opportunity to speak with Supervisor Vincent Sarmiento at the Orange County Grant Makers Summit about the corruption and discrimination I’ve faced within my union and employer.

As a female construction worker, I’ve experienced firsthand how a system that’s supposed to protect its workers can be manipulated to silence those who speak out. But I’m not backing down. I’m fighting for accountability, fairness, and for every worker who has been wronged. The Institute to Pathways to Potential was born out of this battle—because without self-worth, skills alone aren’t enough to rise above the challenges we face.

I’m committed to exposing this injustice and shining a light on the corruption that needs to be addressed. Thank you, Supervisor Sarmiento, for taking the time to hear my story. We must continue these conversations, and I will keep pushing forward to make sure no one else endures what I’ve been through.
