🏆 Congratulations to our Grade 6 girls football team on becoming UBS Football Cup Kantonal champions! ⚽🦅

After winning every group game, the team continued their run by defeating both group winners in the final rounds to take home the championship title. Their journey now continues as they represent Kanton Zug at the UBS Football Cup National School Championships in Basel on 10 June.

Well done to the team for their teamwork and throughout the tournament. We’re excited to cheer them on in Basel 💙

Last week, more than 170 students across Grades 5–8 took to the big stage for our annual Primary and Middle School music concert 🎶

Featuring performances across brass, clarinet, saxophone, violin, cello, piano, flute, and classical guitar, the evening was a celebration of the creativity of our students and the effort they put in to developing their musical talents. These evenings often come with a lot of nerves, which are soon met with rounds of applause and support from friends and family 🎉

Congratulations to our performers for a wonderful show! 👏🏼

Congratulations to our Grade 10 students for representing ISZL at the inaugural Climate Week Zurich at ETH Zürich!

👏🏼 We were proud to be the only school selected as an academic partner for the event, highlighting the important role young people can play in conversations around sustainability and community impact.

🏔️ During the event, students presented two Avalanche Awareness Safety Impact Labs, originally delivered at Youth Forum Switzerland. The lab introduced participants to the fundamentals of avalanche safety, including understanding equipment and making smart decisions in the mountains.

It is always rewarding to see students share their learning in real-world settings like and realise the value and impact their ideas can have.

A trip to the Natur- und Tierpark Goldau was the highlight of the week for our Grade 1 students 🐾❄️

Despite a chilly start and snow dusting the mountains, students headed out excited to see the animals they’ve been researching in real life. They spent the day observing animals up close as they played, ate, and rested 🦌

☀️ By lunchtime, the sun had appeared and they enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in the natural surroundings

Back in class this week, students will build on their observations and turn their research into information books to share what they’ve discovered.

Our EY students had a surprise visitor on their forest trip... 🐾

Nikau is always the talk of the town whenever he visits, and he has undoubtedly become a much-loved part of life at ISZL since joining us with his owner, Primary Principal Mrs Bland, in 2024.

Originally trained as a guide dog in New Zealand, Nikau has worked in primary school settings since 2019. He helps students feel calm and confident, while also encouraging communication, participation, and emotional wellbeing.

Sometimes, though, Nikau is simply there for a big cuddle, to put a smile on our faces, or to bring a moment of joy in the middle of the forest 💙 🐕‍🦺

Last week's SGIS Track & Field event was what school sport and camaraderie looks like at its best 🏃‍♀️

Alongside the from our ISZL student-athletes 🦅, we saw students from every school cheering one another on throughout the day, no matter which team they represented. This shared encouragement goes a long way in building community, especially for young people.

Sometimes it’s not about the final results or how many medals a team takes home. In an international school environment, feeling connected to a wider community is incredibly important, and days like this make that possible 👏🏼

Our EY1 students give their tick of approval for a day out at Seleger Moor Park 🌿

☀️ With beautiful weather and lots to explore, students spent the day making connections to their How the World Works unit through movement like walking winding paths in the gardens, experimenting with the kugelbahn and marble run, and exploring different textures along the Barfussweg (barefoot trail).

The pond was another highlight, linking back to their forest visits as students spotted frogs, bugs, and birds 🐸🪲🐦

Days like this remind us how fortunate we are to teach and learn in Central Switzerland, where experiences like these are right on our doorstep 🇨🇭

A big thank you to the team at International School Basel for hosting a fantastic SongFest 🎶

After hosting SongFest at ISZL last year, it was great to see this event continue and once again bring together students from four international schools through music.

284 students from ISZL, ICS Inter-Community School Zurich, International School of Berne, and International School Basel spent the day in workshops, rehearsals, and connecting before performing two community concerts 🎶

The final combined performance with all singers on stage was one of the highlights of the performing arts calendar. Congratulations to all the singers and teachers involved, and we look forward to next year 👏

Our Grade 2 students visited Grade 4 to hear about the sustainable crafts they’re designing ahead of their annual Craft Fair, where they shared practical and creative feedback to help refine each product 🤝

For Grade 2, it’s an exciting glimpse of what’s to come. For Grade 4, it’s a valuable chance to hear fresh perspectives and develop their ideas further 💭

The Craft Fair is part of the Grade 4 "How We Organise Ourselves unit," which explores supply and demand, budgeting, and what it means to create and sell responsibly, with a focus on using what’s already available or can be reused. Stay tuned!

🎶 Our KGT students are putting their music skills to the test by creating their very own ISZL rap song for .

For our German-speaking followers, listen closely and see if you can identify the lyrics 👂

💡Clue: the song begins „Unsere Erde ist wunderbar“ 🌎
