June 10th, 2021.

That's the day I felt more secure than in the last 1 and a half years. Guess why? ‘Cause I finally got vaccinated!!!

I sometimes try to remember what life used to be like before covid-19. At the moment I was getting the shot I could glimpse that feeling that I longed for.

I know I’m not at the point to say I’m fully inoculated, since I haven’t got the second shot yet, but the feeling is so dang good!

OUT WITH BOLSONARO!!! GENOCIDEEE! - That’s what’s on the poster 💪🏾

Jakeline Laureano had a few words to say about the late Paulo Gustavo, a famous Brazilian actor, comedian, director and writer. Read her words here:

written by Jakeline Laureano Paulo Gustavo was a famous Brazilian actor, comedian, director and writer. He was a father of 2, a husband, a son, a brother, and a beloved member of every Brazilian family. This is why it’s so difficult for us to accept his passing. He was stricken with Covid-19 on th...

Jakeline Laureano: "The daycare center classes returned this past Monday, and we are all happy about that. We’re unable to do things the way they were before, though, due to all the protocols we must follow. Therefore it feels awkward, returning to classes during the worst moment of the Covid-19 Pandemic, especially because the teachers haven't been inoculated so far. Even so there is a sensation that things are finally falling back into place."

Jakeline Laureano is happy to announce that she is learning Sign Language! It has been a wonderful challenge and she shares her first impressions in ASA's new blog post.

written by Jakeline Laureano Great news! I kept myself brainstorming during my summer vacation, thinking about what could come next. Luckily, it came to my knowledge that a course of which I longed to study, had just opened for new students, and I had a light bulb moment: "I MUST DO IT!" That was my...

Are you frustrated with having to wear a mask? Jakeline Laureano invites us to think about deaf people and learners, how a mask can hinder their understanding and learning. As Jakeline says: "Think about it."

To me, Human Solidarity Day is about sharing. If we’re not sharing, then we’re doing something wrong. Therefore I’ll share what’s been happening to me.

The process of writing all these articles has been cathartic for me. As I was sharing my perspective of the world with all of you, I realized that going through that was really meaningful. I noticed that I changed my attitudes, and I saw myself trying to find a different path, which was talking more instead of fighting back; and at the end I noticed that I’d achieved something that I spent my whole life promising my mom I would do: think before acting.

It goes without saying that we as humankind are deep in a pandemic crisis and that a huge part of the world can’t stand on their own two feet. Isn’t that the perfect time to show solidarity and share? One might ask, what have I to share? You don’t have to have money to help people. Sometimes, only a word is necessary to make someone's suffering a little bit more bearable. That’s what I’ve been trying to do. Let’s share positivity, share encouragement, share kindness, and of course, if you have the means to share more than that, do it.

Happy Human Solidarity Day! (written by Jakeline Laureano)
