I read once a short story (apologies for not remembering the source) about a professor who came into the classroom with a half-filled glass of water for an experiment. The students expected the question to be regarding the glass being perceived as a half full or half empty glass. Instead the professor asked: "how heavy is this glass?" The students answered varying between 50 until 300 grams. The professor responded that the actual weight of the glass was not relevant: "It depends how long I am holding it: If it is only one minute, it is not a problem. If I would be holding it for an hour, my arm will start to hurt. If it is prolonged for hours, my arm will start to feel numb. Stress and worries are like this glass of water. The longer you hold on to it, the heavier it becomes. Hence the importance of releasing and letting go, and doing this in time before it becomes too heavy.
