The International Economics Olympiad has always been a place to challenge yourself through economics. This year, it also became a place to share ideas.
At IEO 2026 in Shenzhen, we proudly launched the first-ever IEOx Youth Talks — a new platform where contestants could step beyond the competition to present the topics they care about, exchange perspectives, and inspire one another. Because IEO is about more than solving problems — it’s also about sharing ideas and giving young people a chance to make their voices heard.
We are incredibly grateful to every speaker who took the stage and made the very first edition of IEOx Youth Talks such a success.

This was only the beginning. We look forward to seeing IEOx Youth Talks continue to grow in the years to come!

The International Economics Olympiad 2026 has officially come to a close, and what an incredible journey it has been.
This year, we were honoured to welcome 56 teams from 55 countries and regions, with 49 teams joining us in Shenzhen, China and the remaining delegations participating online. For one unforgettable week, contestants, team leaders, jury members, volunteers, and organizers came together to celebrate knowledge, curiosity, and the spirit of international collaboration.
From challenging Economics, Finance, and Business Case competitions to conversations that crossed cultures and continents, IEO 2026 once again proved that the Olympiad is about so much more than medals. It is about the people you meet, the ideas you share, and the memories you take home.
Beyond the competition, contestants had the opportunity to attend a guest lecture by Professor Zhen Huo of Yale University, take part in the IEOx YouthTalk, and join the workshop “Experiencing Economics” led by Professor Humberto Llavador, each offering a different perspective on economics and the world around us.
The week concluded with our Closing Ceremony, where we celebrated the achievements of this year’s contestants and recognized the outstanding performances of our medalists and winning teams. Every medal awarded tells a story of dedication, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work, and every participant has contributed to making this Olympiad truly special.
To everyone who made IEO 2026 possible — our contestants, team leaders, jury members, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and the entire organizing team — thank you! Your passion, commitment, and enthusiasm are what bring the International Economics Olympiad to life year after year.
