BIBLE STUDY SUMMARY

DATE: 23RD APRIL, 2023.

BIBLE TEXT: 1ST CORINTHIANS 14

TOPIC: SEEK OUT THE MOST PRECIOUS GIFTS

INTRODUCTION

In this Bible passage, Apostle Paul, is emphasizing on the fact that believers need to be seeking out for the most precious gift: the gift of of love and the one of prophecy. And at the same time, warns them to avoid serving God without understanding.

OBSERVATION

🥂 There are gifts that are meant for self edification and those meant for the spiritual growth of the church.

🥂 I need to eagerly pursue and seek to acquire love.

🥂 I will sing with understanding and I will sing in Spirit.

INTERPRETATION

🥂 Apostle Paul values the gift of prophecy or the gift of delivering the messages of God .The prophet, communicate what to believers or community what God desires in a particular context. This gift contributes in the growth of the church, as body or an assembly but the one who speaks in tongues edifies himself as he speaks utterance which no one can understand except God. Praying In tongues and in the Spirit can make me uttters secret truth and hidden things( not obvious to the understanding).

🥂The kingdom of God is all about love. I can't pretend serving God while I hate, despise and revile my brothers. Loving is giving my time, energy and money... For humanity and the body of Christ. We are living in the age of materialism, where people value materials more than individuals. But for God, man is created in His own image. Therefore loving God must go hand in hand with loving one another.( Fellow brethen and humanity).

🥂 I need to be serving God in maturity. The king David said in the book of 2 Samuel 24:24:" I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” I need to be intentional while I'm serving God, looking to understand the utterance and doing my best by the Help of the Spirit to be understood and then edifies the body of Christ.

APPLICATION

🥂 I will seek out for gift of prophecy to edifiy myself and the body of Christ.

🥂 I will recklessly pursue love for my brethen and humanity.

🥂From now on, I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings ( service), that cost me nothing.

CONCLUSION

I need to pursue Excellence in the service of the high most God. For He's is looking for people that can be the vessel Wich He can use as channels to impact his beloved and the whole world. Therefore I need to seek out for the gift of prophecy( delivering messages of God).

PRAYER

Holy Ghost, fall down on me. Let your spirit fall down on me, so I may be a channel of blessing for the church and the whole world. In Jesus Name, Amen.

TOPIC: I'M A MEMBER OF GOD'S FAMILY

INTRODUCTION

In this Bible passage, Apostle Paul establishes the fact that, believers form the body of Christ, which gives each person his dignity. This union with Christ is realized by the Holy Spirit (whose spiritual gifts come from him for the service of all). And Apostle Paul invites everyone to highlight the gifts they have received.

OBSERVATION

🥂 Everything that is positive and uplifting in the life of the Christian comes from the Holy Spirit.

🥂 Everyone has value in the body of Christ regardless of their gift.

🥂 God is gracious to whom He will.

🥂 Teaching strengthen the church and makes it produce fruits.

INTERPRETATION

🥂 God so loved the world that He gave His son for it, His son has in His turn gifted the Church with the Holy Spirit and this one has gifted to all believers spirituals gifts. He's the helper of the church the one that teaches all, and knows all. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to believers for the sake of serving the body. These gifts are meant to serve the body and foster on the template of the Church not the other way around.

🥂God shows no partiality, and doesn't revile people for their social status. Each and every believer has his value in the family of God. For God has values and cherishes the weak, the one who is looking appereantly neglectable so that there should be no division or lack of adaptation in His family. For the Bible says:"The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to all of us ".
Henceforth, members of God's family should have mutual interest and take care of one another.

🥂 I need to always be of a meek heart, not boasting on myself as regard to my position in God's family or in the society at the expense of others. For God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” In the opposite, I shouldn't consider myself as useless while God values me. It is a sin to not confess and recognize what God said about you, what's your identity in Him.

🥂 Man shall not live only by bread but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth Of God. It is through the teaching of the word of God that believers can be strengthened and produce fruits. The anti Christ is acting nowadays as a false teacher seducing believers by false doctrines. Therefore , I as a teacher of the word of God, need to pay attention to the way I'm building the church of Christ. And I, myself need to also get feed up at His feets every single day ( in studying His word).

APPLICATION

🥂 I will ask the Holy Spirit to give me the gift of healing and faith.

🥂 I will not despise or revile my fellow brethen that I esteem they are apparently not useful.

🥂 I will keep being humble and relying on God's grace not on my status in society or position in the church.

🥂As I'm appointed teacher, I will be teaching the body of Christ in alignment with the truth of the word of God.

CONCLUSION

The Holy Spirit is mine and I'm His. It doesn't matter what I have or did before . He only sees me for who I am now in Christ and He has the ability to make me a vessel of honor.

PRAYER

Precious Holy Spirit, my soul long and yearn for you; come and make my heart your home, so I may be a vessel of honour to serve you and my community. In Jesus Name, Amen.

4 Ways to Discover Your Purpose.

If you don't know your purpose, you will end up living a life of mediocrity, which you won't love.

These are not the only methods, but I've used them to discover mine, which you can, too.

🔅Seek God's Face. The God factor cannot be denied in all areas of your life. Moreover, only a manufacturer of a product can perfectly repair it when it's at fault. Likewise, you are a creature of God and he knows why he created you. So, go to him and he will make it known to you.

🔅 Know your Passion and Interest. Have self-examination and know what you love doing and can do perfectly at any given time. We are not the same. We all have differences. So there is something you can do that I can't. Observe yourself and you'll discover it.

🔅 Involve a Third-party. Sometimes, you might not know what you are good at, but a friend or a relative would know. You can ask them and observe yourself if they are right. When you do, develop and become a master of it.

🔅Try out new things. You'll not know what you can do till you try. I am a perfect example.

I started posting content on Facebook on the 2nd of December, 2022. I never believed I can do it till I put in an effort. Though, I've been writing content, but I never put it out for others to see. When I tried the first time and saw that I did well, immediately, I started developing my skill by attending webinars and reading eBooks. It all starts with doing a new thing. You can do the same, too. It mustn't be writing. As I said earlier, we can't be the same.

Remember, purpose discovery is a personal journey and it's mandatory. The world is incomplete without you because you have a vacuum to fill.

So, to live a fulfilled life, use the aforementioned ways to discover your purpose.
