WORLD RECORD: Nigerian Pr******te Makes N250 Million Yearly from Prostitution, Arrested by New York Police, February 26, 2001

In 2001, a Nigerian woman was arrested in New York by law enforcement authorities for allegedly running a multi-million-dollar prostitution ring.

According to the U.S. police reports, she earned over $2 million every year which is roughly N250 million in Nigerian currency at that time. Her arrest came during a major crackdown on human trafficking and s*x work networks across the city.

She was charged with promoting prostitution and laundering money from the illegal business.

Her arrest didn’t just make headlines, it made the world ask hard questions. How did a young Nigerian woman end up running a prostitution empire in New York? And how many others were out there, risking everything for money?

It was a wake-up call about the dark side of migration, and how poverty and desperation keep pushing people into dangerous paths. Even with government campaigns and arrests, the money in this trade was just too tempting for some to resist.
